TOURNEY – Summer Splat-a-thon Supreme 2016

Can you believe it, Summer is nearly over. We still can’t get over The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild from E3, but pretty soon we will have to return to normality, back to school, back to baggy trousers, that sort of thing. Luckily, we have one very last-minute organised trick up our sleeve to end Summer with a bang!

To top off the peak of Summer, we’d thought to host a new Splatoon tournament, the NintyBuzz Summer Splat-a-thon Supreme! We have actually already hosted this tournament before, back on 3DS Buzz Forums, before the big merge, last year. In the end, the member Pepe claimed victory and is chuffed with his Lucina AmiiboĀ to top off his Fire Emblem series.

Check out all the info for this year after the break!

I am a huge Nintendo fan, hence why NintyBuzz exists. I especially love all things Zelda and Metroid. NintyBuzz was started by me back in the Summer of 2014, it started out mainly as a hobby, though the site has gradually grown, and I hope it grows for many years to come!

Weekend NintyBeats – You’re a Squid Now!

The music of Nintendo games make them truly remarkable and memorable. To show our love of the music, every Friday we share a selection of tracks from various Nintendo titles, new and old.

“YOU’RE A KID NOW!Ā YOU’RE A SQUID NOW!Ā You’re a kid! You’re a squid! You’re a kid! You’re a squid!” It’s been a year since SplatoonĀ sunk the conventions of a shooter game for Wii U, and to shellebrate, we are dedicating this week’s NintyBeats to theĀ cephalopodĀ fuelled action with it’s freshest tunes the world has ever seen… after the break!

NintyBuzz @ EGX 2015: The Writeup

About two weeks ago, I attendedĀ EGX 2015 at the NEC Birmingham, the biggest UK gaming event of the year. The venue was packed with games, gamers, and miscellaneous (I think I may have spotted a Deku Scrub in the crowd).

Check out our write-up of the even (as experienced on the Sunday) after the break!

Splatoon – Is Locked Content Upon Release Good?

Splatoon is Nintendo’s unique take on the shooter genre (a game which we gave an 8.5 in our review). Those of you who got hold of the game from launch may remember that Splatoon was a bit lacking in content for the online multiplayer. The game launched only with one online mode and two maps. On a weekly basis, Nintendo has been unlocking new content for the game however, this ranged from new weapons to new maps, and even some new modes.

Was this idea of locking away a lot of content from launch beneficial for Splatoon though? Find out what we think after the break!

Summer Splat-athon – Quarter-Final Results

GreetingsĀ cephalopods and humanoid creatures of the world!Ā As you may or may not know (you better know bub) we’ve been hosting the August Splat-athon supreme over at 3DS Buzz.Ā Well, we’ve just had an exhilarating quarter-finals, even Judd was impressed,Ā and not even Cat-fish Supreme Wednesdays impress him any more!

The quarter finals were played by two teams, as we had an odd number of squid kids, one team had four players whereas the other had three. The teams battled against each other in two rounds of Turf Wars, the players with the lowest scores were then shooed away from the tourney with a large bottle of Seaman’s Soy Sauce! Two players from the team of four and one from the team of three were eliminated.

The results are now in and from Team Splat, Pepe and Lis4Real25 will be going to the semi-finals, and from Team Toon, Cadjr2003 and Homer Fanboy will also be progressing forwards!

Congratulations to those who played the best and see you in the Semis, and until next time…

STAY FRESH!

Splatoon’s Big August Splat-date!

Every week, Splatoon sees new content being added from new maps to new weapons.Ā Next week, however, will be a bit different, who am I kidding, it will be a LOT different. Splat the date, as the 5th/6th August 2015 will introduce a massive update to keep the game fresh as ever.

Find out the details after the break!

REVIEW – Splatoon

The weather is getting hot (finally) and school’s breaking up (hopefully). Summer is coming and it is the perfect time for riding some gnarly waves, delicious BBQs, staying fresh, swimming in ink, and, most importantly, battling in turf wars! Splatoon was released exclusively for the Wii U only a few weeks ago, and I was able to spend some time with it, being both a squid and a kid.

Find out whether Splatoon is as fresh as the Krak-on Splat Roller or unfresh like the Octolings… after the break!
