REVIEW – The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening

Twenty-six years ago, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening was released for the Nintendo GameBoy, and five years later in a colourised release for the GameBoy Color. Now, the adventure has been reimagined for a new audience with a release on Nintendo Switch, displayed in a three-dimensional widescreen view, compared to the original game’s square ratio. The game retains its traditional top-down formula, and is an enhanced remake of the original, including features from Link’s Awakening DX. But how does it compare to those classic GameBoy games?

Dark Souls Remastered dated for Nintendo Switch… finally

I may be late to the party, but there is a thing called fashionably late… even if it’s for a party full of remorse and torture. That’s right, Dark Souls Remastered for Nintendo Switch has finally been dated, and it couldn’t launch at a better time, just before Halloween!

Whatever the reason for the delay, fans are sure to be excited to rage through Dark Souls anywhere, anytime, and with anyone on Nintendo Switch from the 19th October. The Solaire of Astora Amiibo will also launch on the same day.

Looking for a cool preorder bonus? Order from the UK Nintendo Store (click here for the listing) and you can expect your copy to come with a metallic plate with the cover art on it… okay, maybe the preorder bonus isn’t that glamorous, but at least we finally have a Switch release date, right? Though most retails have already allocated their Amiibo preorders, you can still get an order in from the Bandai store here.

I am a huge Nintendo fan, hence why NintyBuzz exists. I especially love all things Zelda and Metroid. NintyBuzz was started by me back in the Summer of 2014, it started out mainly as a hobby, though the site has gradually grown, and I hope it grows for many years to come!

E3 2018 – Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion Launching Tomorrow, New Amiibo, and Updates

A nice surprise announcement was made during the Splatoon 2 World Championship Finals last night, the long awaited paid DLC for Splatoon 2, Octo Expansion, is launching tomorrow. That’s right, tomorrow morning (this evening for our US visitors) you can purchase/download the brand new single player experience for Splatoon 2!  Explore the depths of the underground facilities over 80 brand new challenging missions as an Octoling agent.

That’s not all that was announced. Later in the year, Nintendo will be releasing three brand new Amiibo based off the expansion. These are Octoling Boy, Octoling Girld, and Octoling Octoform! No word yet on what features these will unlock, though it’s probably safe to assume that they will have similar usability as the Inkling Amiibo.

Finally, Splatoon 2 producer, Hisashi Nogami, announced that free updates for Splatoon 2 will be extended by another six months until December. Expect brand new gear, weapons, and stages to drop throughout the rest of the year!

What are your thoughts on these announcements? What do you think of E3 2018 so far? Tell us in the comments below!

New Kingdoms, Snapshot Mode and Leaderboards for Mario Odyssey!

Nintendo concluded tonights Nintendo Direct with same brand new announcements which I am sure will CAPture your attention… see what I did there!

First of all, there were two brand new kingdoms announced for Nintendo upcoming Switch adventure. Though Summer is now over, that doesn’t mean you still can’t lay down by the beach, especially in Bubblaine in the Seaside Kingdom. Perhaps you’re looking for a good reason to get all snuggly, well you’re gonna love Shiveria in Snow Kingdom. Even more kingdoms await Mario, including some tropical islands and, what seems to be ruins of sort. Oh, we also see that some Kingdoms contain more than 50 Moons, you’d better get collecting!

A brand new mode was also announced, which is a first for a Mario game. At (nearly) any point during gameplay you can enter Snapshot Mode. In this mode everything seems to freeze, allowing you to take pictures on your adventure. You can even add filters, zoom in/out, or even add a logo, because why not advertise the name of the game in your scrapbook!

You may have seen there are a few mini games in Super Mario Odyssey, such as Skip Rope in New Donk City. Well, there will apparently be plenty more, including Koopa Racing, and not only can you win Power Moons from competing in them, but you can also submit your high scores and compare them worldwide on leaderboards… how neat!

There’s a few other pieces of neat info released too. If you are having a bit of trouble, talking to Talkatoo will give you a very subtle hint for a Power Moon. Additionally, you can use coins to find out the location of a Power Moon from Toad or use an Amiibo from Uncle Amiibo. The three wedding Amiibo for Odyssey are still on track for release, as well as providing hints, they will also unlock wedding costumes for Mario, regional coin locations, invisibility, and an extra life heart.

Finally, a brand new Switch bundle with Super Mario Odyssey has been announced, and they will come packed with red JoyCons and a special edition carrying case. This is a new colour, different from the Neon Red JoyCons. Super Mario Odyssey, the Switch bundle, and the Amiibo release on the 27th October 2017 in North America and Europe!

So how is Super Mario Odyssey looking to you now? Have you been CAPtivated? Has is CAPtured your attention? Tell us in the comments below! Images and video segment to be added later, watch this space.

REVIEW – Hey! Pikmin

Those cute little Pikmin are now going even more pocket sized in their first ever portable outing in Hey! Pikmin. CapitanOlimar crash lands the S.S Dolphin 2 on yet another desolate world, full of treasures, dangers, and many trustworthy Pikmin companions.

Will Hey! Pikmin be a treasure for 3DS, or is it not even fit for a Bulborb’s lunch? Find out in our review, after the break!

REVIEW – Poochy and Yoshi’s Woolly World

Back in 2015, Yoshi knitted himself into a brand new adventure on Wii U, in Yoshi’s Wooly World. He’s now unravelled in size onto the 3DS, and brought a four legged friend with him in Poochy and Yoshi’s Woolly World.

Has the downsize kept the fuzzy charm of the original, or has Yoshi snagged a thread in Poochy and Yoshi’s Woolly World? Find out in our review, after the break!

Nintendo at E3 2016 Video Blowout

Yesterday was a long day, and after being overwhelmed by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and making the seemingly bad choice of  catching up with Wayward Pines before bed, I am fully now rested and am able to share more goodies from Nintendo at E3… from other people, who were actually at E3.

Beyond the door to the wilds (i.e. after the break), there are various videos from Nintendo’s bustling E3 day. Be prepared for gameplay, booth tours, Zelda galore, all you have to do is click read more!
