Opinion: Samus is back, but are the fans?

For the first time in thirteen years, Nintendo will be releasing a traditional 2D Metroid title. At the time of writing, we are just two weeks away from Metroid: Samus Returns arriving in North America and Europe. The initial response from the press has been fantastic and it looks like it will be the game that fans of the traditional Metroid games have dreamed of. Nintendo appear to have listened to the Metroid fan community with their criticism of Metroid: Other M and Metroid Prime: Federation Force over the years. Samus is back! Metroid seems to have returned to its roots. So why are some fans so angry and upset? (more…)

Get Ready to Eat All The Things!

I recently discovered this charming looking game on Kickstarter where you play as a donut trying to eat all the things, while avoiding the watchers, who are also trying to eat all the things (mainly you)! It’s conveniently called ‘Eat All The Things’ and the developers plan to release it for all major platforms, including the Nintendo Switch.

The game follows the adventures of Bronut. He loves food. He loves food so much, he dresses up as a donut. He loves food so much, he’ll just gobble up any food that he can reach, whether or not it belongs to him. Your job is to direct him through bright and vibrant environments and puzzles to fill his tummy up. Be warned though, these snacks belong to the Watchers, and they surely won’t appreciate their delightful desserts being nicked. Get caught in their gaze, and they will alert the ‘evil’ host, you’d better hide if you know what’s good for ya!

Have I whetted your appetite yet? Read more about it after the break!

Mix and Match JoyCon Colours in Japan

There are already quite a few JoyCon colours on the market. If you’re more of a plain or sleek guy, you can choose receive grey JoyCons with your Switch purchase, but if you’re more the colourful type, then there is Neon Blue and Red, Neon Yellow, or Neon Pink and Green you can choose from. Up until now, in Japan, if you wanted to have a mixture of different colours then the ones above, you would have to also purchase a separate pair of JoyCons with your brand new Nintendo Switch.

It seems that Nintendo of Japan’s website has now launched a Nintendo Switch JoyCon bundle builder of sorts. This tool lets you choose which colour you want each of your included JoyCons to be in, you can even choose what coloured straps your want. There is a slight catch however. At the time of writing, you may only choose colours which have been specifically released for that specific JoyCon. That means you will be able to get your left JoyCon in Neon Green, but you cannot get the right one in that colour as Nintendo have yet to officially release the right one in Neon Green.

This is a bit of a drawback, though I could see this pave the way for more customisable colour combinations in the future. Hopefully the service may find its way overseas soon.

More EA Games for Switch if FIFA 18 Performs Well

As much as some people disagree with EA, they do have a bunch of awesome IPs, such as Sims, Titanfall, Star Wars Battlefront, Need for Speed, and Battlefield, they’re even releasing a brand new IP, Anthem, which looks absolutely incredible. You may notice however that there hasn’t been a lot of EA love for Nintendo in recent years, though this could all change with the Nintendo Switch.

Vice President, Patrick Söderlund, recently spoke with EDGE magazine about Nintendo’s hot new platform, and mentioned how he wants to help the Switch library to grow. Unfortunately, it seems EA plan to take their Switch releases hostage and also states that depending on how well FIFA 8 sells on the Switch will affect the games they release for the console.
