New Hyrule Warriors Details Emerge

Hyrule Warriors details just keep rolling out, as soon as we think the game is going to be really awesome, Koei-Tecmo and Nintendo suddenly bombard us with new details to exceed our expectations. Japanese publication, Famitsu, have just revealed some new juicy details regarding Hyrule Warriors in their most recent issue. These details talk about the Gerudo Desert and Temple of the Sacred Sword stages as well as some information on the story, sealed weapons and a new[ish] enemy!

Scans and translations were provided by Nintendo Everything, thanks guys and gals!

Gerudo Desert

  • In the eastern area of Hyrule there is a rift called Death Valley that separates northern and southern areas
  • It is impossible to build a bridge across the gap
  • In front of that deep valley, there is a vast barren desert called Gerudo Desert
  • In the desert one can see traces of a barbaric civilization of long ago, like in the form of an execution site
  • There is also a village of the descendants of that civilization, Gerudo
  • Since an unusual event occurred in the world, monsters from various places drifted to the desert
  • Now due to their rampage, people can’t live there anymore since it has turned into the world of survival of the fittest

Temple of the Sacred Sword

  • Located at the western end of Hyrule, inside a citadel city
  • The city once flourished, but several hundreds of years ago it faced raids of many monsters and and thus fell into ruin
  • In those ruins there are no longer signs of human or monster activity
  • In that crumbled area, there is a grand temple in the same figure as it was in the olden days; it seems like time had stopped at that spot
  • Inside that temple, there is a precious sword that many thieves have tried to draw out of its pedestal
  • yet no one has succeeded
  • With the years passing, eventually there was no one left to try stealing it so the sword and the crumbled city faded away from people’s memories

Story bits

  • Ganondorf is plotting to take over the world with the help of Ghirahim and Zant
  • But do Cia and Ganondorf join forces? (semi-literal Famitsu translation)
  • Heroes will separate their forces when approaching the worlds that Cia summoned
  • Sheik and Impa head for the world of Ocarina of Time
  • Lana goes into the world of Twilight Princess
  • Link enters the world of Skyward Sword
  • Players can choose freely in which order they want to proceed into these worlds

Sealed weapons

  • When controlling specific fortresses (areas), a treasure chest containing a sealed weapon may appear
  • Sealed weapons are different weapons with unique properties and visuals
  • Ex: normally Link wields his Knight’s Sword, but with sealed weapon you can unlock the superior White Sword
  • Once a sealed weapon is unlocked, it is also possible to obtain those weapons as weapon drops during a battle

Manhandla

  • Huge plant monster living in the wilderness
  • It can harden its skin to control evaporation and to protect itself from enemies
  • When Manhanndla toughens its skin it becomes hard as metal so you have to wait until it returns to green color again to deal damage
  • Below its body, there are small roots that serve as legs and thus it can move freely despite of being a plant
  • Although it is not the prettiest flower to look at, there is a beautiful crimson colored crystal inside its body

Other

  • The potion shop’s selection will increase as you slay more golden skulltulas

Now Hyrule Warriors is starting to sound more awesome than ever, some of the details from the stages definitely show how much effort is being put into the game and not just making it a simple spin-off game. In fact, I am hoping that Nintendo decide to expand on some of these, or at least grab inspiration from the details they just revealed!

Hyrule Warriors is set to be released on August 14th in Japan, September 19th in Europe, September 20th in Australia and September 26th in North America!

SmashShot of the Day (8th August 2014)

For the past year, Smash Bros. Director, Masahiro Sakurai, has been showing off Smash Bros. glory by uploading a screenshot from the upcoming instalments for 3DS and Wii U nearly every day on Miiverse… that’s a whole lot of content for your eyeballs! Today Sakurai has a retro surprise… a VERY retro surprise!

zlCfzSRxjz0YZm9djd

“?Ba-ding!?”

If you turn on the 3D effect, it really looks like there’s a Game Boy inside the screen.

Yup, it’s a Game Boy, and if you turn on the 3D then apparently it looks like there is a Game Boy inside your 3DS [Game-ception much]. It is possible that this is a brand new stage, though Sakurai has yet to confirm this… also, the character sprites are quite different from their usual Smash Bros. one to fit in with the Game Boy theme.

Super Smash Bros. is set to be released for 3DS on the 13th September 2014 in Japan, 3rd October 2014 in Europe and North America, and a day later in Australia. The Wii U version is set to be released during Q4 2014.

SmashShot Of The Day (6th/7th August 2014)

For the past year, Smash Bros. Director, Masahiro Sakurai, has been showing off Smash Bros. glory by uploading a screenshot from the upcoming instalments for 3DS and Wii U nearly every day on Miiverse… that’s a whole lot of content for your eyeballs! Yesterday, Sakurai shoed us two new support Pokémon which appear from within the Pokéball item!

zlCfzSRICv0mhm5u8Z

Here’s what he had to say…

Victini and Xerneas are both support Pokémon. Victini’s Victory Star boosts the attack of whoever throws the Poké Ball, and also prevents flinching. Xerneas’s Geomancy increases the launch power of all fighters, but exceptionally raises it for whoever had the Poké Ball.

It seems these Pokémon don’t cause damage directly towards fighters, but instead will put effects on them. Victini will temporarily boost the users attack power as well as reduce flinching. Xerneas increases the launch power of all fighters, though the user’s is raised more so. Today’s picture shows off some of the Trophy Gallery from the 3DS version of the game!

And here’s his comment…

Here’s the trophy gallery for the 3DS version. You can rotate the trophies by drawing circles on the bottom screen. Super Smash Bros. Brawl had tons of trophies, but rumor has it that the 3DS version alone may have more than Brawl. Looks like the Dr. Wily that we made from scratch for the 3DS version is on his knees in disbelief.

As expected, you’ll be able to see the entire trophy on the top screen while looking at the information on the bottom. I expect you can use the Circle Pad to rotate the trophy, but you can also use the stylus on the bottom screen to do so. It also seems like there may be more trophies to collect in the 3DS Smash than the Wii U’s. Today is also a double feature as Sakurai shows us something new for the Trophy Gallery…

zlCfzSRcbMAX8ULwuf

Here’s something new–the trophy shop. If you’re having a hard time getting certain trophies, why not just buy them? They sometimes go on sale, too.

Now we can finally put the many coins we collect in Smash Bros. into good use with the brand new Trophy Shop. If you crave a specific trophy then you can just buy one by using the gold you collect in the modes of Smash Bros.; they also go on sale from time to time. If you walk more than you smash [strange people] then you can also use your collection of Play Coins to purchase trophies too. Play Coins can be collected by putting your 3DS system into your pocket and walking the day away. You get one coin for every 100 steps, you can collect 10 a day and you can carry a maximum of 300 coins.

Super Smash Bros. is set to be released for 3DS on the 13th September 2014 in Japan, 3rd October 2014 in Europe and North America, and a day later in Australia. The Wii U version is set to be released during Q4 2014.

Mario Kart 8 Mercedes-Benz DLC Explained

On the 27th August 2014, Mario Kart 8 players around the world will be able to download the Mercedes-Benz DLC for free. Before now, we didn’t know the exact detail, but thanks to a PR contact, we now do! But first, here’s the Japanese trailer for the DLC to get your excitement pumping!

First, let us start with what models will be added. First we have the modern Mercedes-Benz GLA, the luxurious yet compact SUV. Then we have 300 SL Roadster, a sports car built for the road. Finally there is the Silver Arrow from the 1930’s, Mercedes-Benz’s legendary Formula 1 racing car. Each car can be customised with various car parts that you unlock throughout the game, however the GLA model will come with three special wheel variations.

The 27th August also marks the 22nd anniversary for the Mario Kart franchise from the release of Super Mario Kart in Japan on the 27th August 1992 for the SNES. For this special occasion, players can compete in the Mercedes Cup from the 27th August to the 23rd September 2014!

Go Full Throttle With Mercedes-Benz DLC And More With New Mario Kart 8 Update

With more than two and a half million people playing worldwide in just only two months, Mario Kart 8 seems to be a Wii U surefire hit, and what’s better to celebrate than a brand new update, complete with the anticipated Mercedes-Benz DLC.

From the 27th August 2014, a new update will be published for Mario Kart 8. This will add a mini-map to the TV screen, allow players to download the free Mercedes-Benz DLC, change the default option after finishing a race to ‘Next Race’ rather than ‘View Highlights’, save the last used kart customisation so you don’t have to keep changing to your favourite parts when you quit, give you the ability to edits other racer highlights, crate a record screen for Coins collect, online win-loss etc., and finally address certain bugs and internet stability. That’s quite a hefty update! I would assume that the update is going to be released worldwide simultaneously, though I can not be 100% sure yet.

Which of these new features are you most looking forward to? Is there anything else you want to be added? I wouldn’t mind a few proper battle mode stages or at least a return of Bob-Omb Blast! Tell us what you think in the comments. Also, if you do not own a copy of Mario Kart 8 yet, then use the links below to purchase a copy! [remember, the Wii U is region locked]

Than you to NintendoEverything for providing translations!
