Hyrule Warriors Patch And New Mode Underway

With Hyrule Warriors being released just over a week ago in Japan, gamers who have already got a hold of the title are already experiencing several technical issues. These range from frame rate drops to the game completely locking up, forcing the player to restart the system. Some of you from Western territories looking forward to Hyrule Warriors may start to grow concerned about these issues, possibly delaying your purchase of the game until it has been fixed. Well fear not as  Koei Tecmo have revealed via Twitter, that its first update is very near completion!

This update aims to fix as many bugs and glitches which have been discovered post-release. Not only that, but the new update will also feature a brand new game mode, what that mode entail though remains a mystery as they have not divulged any specific details. What do you think this game mode could be? Perhaps an online versus or co-op?

Hyrule Warriors was released on August 14th in Japan and is set to be released on September 19th in Europe, September 20th in Australia and September 26th in North America!

Apparently ‘Nintendo Customers Don’t Buy Assassin’s Creed’

During a recent interview between Game Informer and Ubisoft CEO, Yves Guillemot, we were offered a detailed insight to what exactly the company [or at least the Ubisoft chief] sees within the Nintendo Wii U.

According to Yves Guillemot…

It’s very simple, what we see is that Nintendo customers don’t buy Assassin’s Creed. Last year, we sold in very small numbers.

I see two sides to this, firstly, I don’t find it wrong to stop publishing a franchise on a specific console due to lacking sales, however if they want a game to sell, then isn’t it kind of granted that they should put in a decent amount of effort to make the game attractive to potential customers. According to many critics, the Wii U version of Assassin’s Creed 3 and 4 felt like there was very little effort porting it to the console with unpolished edges, frame rate drops and more, they are both very terrific and beautiful games, but it was clear that Ubisoft just didn’t care much about the Wii U version.

Another factor worth mentioning is the fact that DLC wasn’t properly supported for the Wii U version. The Assassin’s Creed 3 DLC was published for Wii U, though it was released quite a while after the other consoles, and the DLC for Black Flag was completely absent from the Wii U version. Just because Ubisoft aren’t bringing Assassin’s Creed to Nintendo platforms anymore doesn’t necessarily mean they are ruling out Nintendo completely.

What we see is that they are very interested in Just Dance, very interested by other kinds of games, so what we are trying to do is to focus more on the types of games they are interested in.

Personally, I feel this is just a very broad generalisation, looking at video game sales, it is true that Just Dance 2014 [the most recent Just Dance title] sold most on a Nintendo console, but this was on the Nintendo Wii, the Wii U’s version sold pretty much similarly to the other versions. However I suppose it is good thing that Ubisoft are not completely forgetting about Nintendo, in fact Yves reconfirmed that they are still working on the Wii U version of Watch Dogs…

[Watch Dogs] is coming to Wii U, it will be the only mature game we publish on it.

So, how do you feel about this information? It would be interesting to see other people’s views on this matter so be sure to tell us about it in the comments below!

LoboCast Episode 4 Is Now Live!

For those of you who haven’t heard, LoboCast is a series of Podcasts created by the wonderful people from LeftHanded Games, who are currently responsible for the upcoming 3D platformer Lobodestroyo, which will be releasing on the Nintendo Wii U… as well as some other consoles including the Ouya and PC/Mac. Check out the first episode here!

Episode 4 features a special guest star, the holy overlord of the StartSelect Network [the site which hosts the LoboCast], Adam Jones, where we find out that maybe it really is about who you know! The gang also goes down nostalgia lane discussing some IPs which they think deserve an overdue reboot or sequel, such as F-Zero and Viewful Joe! Finally, the Better Know A Backer segment returns, last week their victim was your’s truly [ME!] where I was apparently a British George Takei, and this week they prey on the unsuspecting Photon, with a very inaccurate accent [unless he actually is a Snake Oil Salesman who thinks he is a Japanese schoolgirl]! Remember, this segment is all for fun, nothing serious… heck I nearly pissed myself this week!

LoboCast Episode 4: Vice President Croosh Boondicoot!

Like the last episode, the game is family friendly, the podcast… not so much! Enjoy!

[PS Thanks for plugging NintyBuzz Jamie]

RUMOUR – A Nintendo Classic To Get The Remastered Treatment?

Nintendo have been known to create quite a few remakes of classic Nintendo games over the past few years. First we had several N64 classics come to the 3DS such as Star Fox [Lylat Wars as it was known in Europe] and Ocarina of Time. We also have Win Waker HD for Wii U that came out last year, and we also have Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire to look forward to for the Nintendo 3DS in a couple months.

According to a Twitter user, Nintendo are now working an another remaster of a classic title for the Wii U to close the gap of the software lineup. He says in his original tweet that “You’re gonna love it, but it’s a Remaster, It’s perfect to fill gaps in the line-up.” He also goes on to mention that it will most likely come out in early-2015.

You are probably thinking, “why should this even be considered a rumour, it’s just a Twitter user?” however this is the same person who also predicted that Devil’s Third would come to the Wii U and that Nintendo were remaking Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. Many have already speculated that this remaster could be Majora’s Mask, or even Super Mario 64!

What do you think, is it the real deal or is it a fake? What Nintendo classic would you like to replay?

Smash Bros. Special Edition 3DS XL Smashing Onto Shelves

With just over a month until Super Smash Bros. for 3DS is released in Europe, Nintendo of Europe have just recently announced this beauty, a Limited Edition Smash Bros. 3DS XL system!

CMM_3DS_SuperSmashBros_Hardware_mediaplayer_large

As you can see, the Limited Edition design features the snazzy new Smash logo in the top right corner as well as a long line of fighters from the game, both newcomers and veterans. It will also come with a pre-installed version of Super Smash Bros. for 3DS.

The console will have limited availability at selected retailers and the Official Nintendo Store UK, and will retail for around £210. There is currently no word on a US release, though seeing how big the release is, I would definitely not rule out a US release.

What do you think of this new design? What is your favourite colour or design?

Super Smash Bros. is set to be released for 3DS on the 13th September 2014 in Japan, 3rd October 2014 in Europe and North America, and a day later in Australia. The Wii U version is set to be released during Q4 2014.

Apparent Unused Mario Kart 8 Cup Graphics Surface

We all know that Mario Kart 8 has some free DLC to be released later this month, but could it be possible that we will be seeing some more DLC in the form of new cups and tracks? A pair of hackers from JOE [Jolly Old England] have allegedly found some ‘unused’ graphics for cups hidden within the coding of the game!

mario-kart-8-unused-cup-icons

Now, I would only take this with a grain of salt as this could simply be a mock up, or it could just be that these graphics were going to be used in place of the current cups we have in the final version. If this were to be a sign of new tracks becoming available through DLC, what would you want these tracks to be based on? Personally I wouldn’t mind seeing some more based of Super Mario Sunshine.

Speaking of Mario Sunshine, doesn’t the second graphic remind you of the battle modes, Shine Runners and Shine Thief, from Mario Kart DS and Double Dash respectively? I wouldn’t mind seeing a return of those modes, in fact, it would be a very welcome addition to Mario Kart 8!

Tell us what you think in the comments!
