REVIEW – Nintendo Switch OLED Model

Half a decade ago, Nintendo unveiled the Nintendo Switch, the successor to the Wii U that, unbeknown to us then, would quickly lift them out of the dry patch caused by their struggling console. Not to say that the Wii U was bad, in fact, I absolutely adore mine and hosted some amazing titles, it just didn’t sell very well or got frequent enough support from other developers.

The past five years have seen a range of fantastic titles and a new way to play, touting its ability to be used on a TV screen or on the go. The console also received a hardware variation back in 2019, the Nintendo Switch Lite, which introduced a handheld only console for those always on the go with a smaller budget. In addition to the Lite, a revised model was released earlier that year with an improved battery and more efficient CPU.

This year introduced another new version in the form of the Nintendo Switch OLED Model. This upgrade includes features such as a larger screen, crisper visuals, improved audio, and more. Will this new model shine bright in the hands of gamers, or is it nothing more than a dull glimmer of an upgrade? Find out in our review, after the break!

I am a huge Nintendo fan, hence why NintyBuzz exists. I especially love all things Zelda and Metroid. NintyBuzz was started by me back in the Summer of 2014, it started out mainly as a hobby, though the site has gradually grown, and I hope it grows for many years to come!

REVIEW – Super Mario 3D All-Stars

2020 marks thirty-five years since Super Mario Bros. first launched on the Nintendo Entertainment System, and the plumber has featured in many different games ever since. 1996 saw the series’ revolutionary transition into the 3D world with Super Mario 64, followed by various other 3D ventures. As part of this year’s celebrations, Nintendo have launched this ‘star-studded’ compilation, showcasing the best Mario’s 3D world has on offer.

Jump through paintings and collect Power Stars in Super Mario 64, clean up some graffiti while basking in the sun in Super Mario Sunshine, and soar through the stars and defy gravity in Super Mario Galaxy. Does Super Mario 3D All-Stars reach for the gas-filled interstellar spheres, or is it starting to show its age? Find out in our review, after the break!

NintyBeats – Super Mario 35th Anniversary Edition

Mario, he’s had his fair share of adventures over the past thirty-five years over hundreds of various games. Today, we will be celebrating Mario’s legacy by talking about some of my favourite pieces of music from the Mushroom Kingdom, some of which feature in the recently released Super Mario 3D All-Stars. Some of the following you could probably see coming, but there are also several tracks which may pose a bit of a curve-ball.

Once you’ve reached the end of the feature, there will also be a chance to win a physical copy of Super Mario 3D All-Stars or £25 Nintendo eShop credit, so be sure to enter that right away. Without further ado, join us in our celebration, after the break!

Five remakes we want for the Nintendo Switch

It’s no secret that the Nintendo Switch has seen various remakes in it’s first 16 months on the market. Most of the remakes happened to be of Wii U games, which brought some of the consoles best games to those who never owned a Wii U. It got me thinking however, what other games would (re)make a perfect fit for the Nintendo Switch, not just Wii U games, but games from other Nintendo consoles!

Check out the top five Nintendo games we want remade for the Nintendo Switch after the break.

Apparent Unused Mario Kart 8 Cup Graphics Surface

We all know that Mario Kart 8 has some free DLC to be released later this month, but could it be possible that we will be seeing some more DLC in the form of new cups and tracks? A pair of hackers from JOE [Jolly Old England] have allegedly found some ‘unused’ graphics for cups hidden within the coding of the game!

Now, I would only take this with a grain of salt as this could simply be a mock up, or it could just be that these graphics were going to be used in place of the current cups we have in the final version. If this were to be a sign of new tracks becoming available through DLC, what would you want these tracks to be based on? Personally I wouldn’t mind seeing some more based of Super Mario Sunshine.

Speaking of Mario Sunshine, doesn’t the second graphic remind you of the battle modes, Shine Runners and Shine Thief, from Mario Kart DS and Double Dash respectively? I wouldn’t mind seeing a return of those modes, in fact, it would be a very welcome addition to Mario Kart 8!

Tell us what you think in the comments!
