REVIEW – Mario Party Superstars

Back in 1999 (within the UK), Mario and his friends started a feud that would last the next twenty-two years. It wasn’t about who has the best-groomed stache, who got kidnapped by a Koopa King the most, or which dinosaur paid the least amount of taxes… wait, what? Instead, the feud was, and still is, about who the biggest star is, the Super Star!

Mushroom Village beckons once again after all these years to continue the feud once more in Mario Party Superstars, this time allowing us to party like it’s the 90’s all over again. Will this party be the ultimate Super Star, or will it become a forgotten fashion faux pas that should’ve remained in 1999? Find out in our review, after the break!

I am a huge Nintendo fan, hence why NintyBuzz exists. I especially love all things Zelda and Metroid. NintyBuzz was started by me back in the Summer of 2014, it started out mainly as a hobby, though the site has gradually grown, and I hope it grows for many years to come!

Nintendo’s Forgotten Franchises – Wave Race

Nintendo make wonderful games; I think if you’re reading this then there’s every chance that you agree. However, if there’s one criticism that I could aim at them it’s that they often play it too safe. Whilst the last five years have seen the release of two major new franchises (Splatoon and ARMS), the same five years has also seen the release of close to 30 Mario themed games across various platforms. Now, I love Mario as much as the next gamer, but Nintendo have a wealth of franchises which have been neglected, in some cases for generations and new entries are long overdue. In this series I will explore some of Nintendo’s forgotten franchises and just how they might return in the future, starting with Wave Race.

I have been gaming for 30 years, starting mostly with PC Gaming, where I developed a penchant for classic point and click games. Over time I discovered Nintendo, starting with the Game Boy and the Super Mario Land games. Here, my love for Nintendo grew as I discovered many of their other franchises, from Zelda to Pokémon. These days I play a bit of everything but Nintendo and their unique creativity always keeps me coming back for more.

REVIEW – Mario Party: The Top 100

You would think that after 15 games, Mario and co. would be completely partied out. Apparently not, as this time the Mushroom Kingdom is holding a special party bash to celebrate the most integral part of any Mario Party game… the mini-games! Take a stroll down nostalgia lane with 100 mini-games from the past ten years (yes, Mario Party turns ten this year in Japan) in Mario Party: The Top 100!

Is Mario Party: The Top 100 the ultimate celebration, or is it worse than that one party I hosted when nobody turned up? Find out in our review after the break… and after I’ve finished crying!

Most Controversial Nintendo Moments

It’s been a year since Metroid Prime Federation Force hit shelves. This title also happened to have quite the controversial following, with many fans claiming it wasn’t the game they wanted, aside the fact this was when they hadn’t even played it yet. Some went as far as to creating a petition to stop the the game from being released!

To celebrate the controversy (in a way), I’ve spent the past month researching about some of Nintendo’s most controversial games, or those which were specifically controversial on a Nintendo platform. Check them out after the break!

Yooka-Laylee Gets New Trailer and Release!

Old Rare fans [not saying the fans of Rare are rare] rejoice. The fellows over at Playtonic Games have recently revelled the first proper trailer for their Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successor, Yooka-Laylee. The trailer is packed full of platforming goodness. See Yooka roll! Gaze as Laylee takes flight [or glide]! And tremble at the duo’s almighty flower transformation! You can catch all this and more in the trailer below.

Some of you observant lot may realise that the video mentions that the titular duo will be shipping during Q1 2017, which is unfortunately a few months after the initial planned release [October 2016]. However, Playtonic were nice enough to provide a statement of why the game will be delayed. You can view this statement after the break, along with some brand new screenshots and art!
