European Download 24/08/17 – Pokémon Discounts, Pokkén Demo and More

The eShop is gearing up for a lot of Pokémon next month, with sizeable discounts on the 3DS Virtual Console releases of Red, Blue and Yellow; and the Pokkén Tournament DX demo on Switch that dropped today. The Game Boy titles drop 36% percent to £5.75 / €6.39 granted you have a Nintendo Account linked, otherwise the discount’s a tad smaller. The Pokkén demo lets you play as Pikachu, Charizard and Empoleon and supports local multiplayer (on a single screen). Although it can only be played 15 times, you can get around this by deleting and redownloading it unlike restricted use 3DS demos.

This week another retail game comes out in the form of Minecraft: Story Mode – The Complete Adventure. ‘Metroidvania’ indie hit forma.8 debuts on switch at £8.99 / €9.99 and it’s Wii U counterpart has also dropped to that price. On another Wii U note, Final Soldier (VC PC Engine) and Soldier Blade (VC TurboGrafx-16) have released at £6.29 / €6.99 and £5.39 / €5.99 respectively.

And finally, Piczle Lines DX releases at £13.99 / €14.99 and another member of the ACA NEOGEO range – PUZZLED – comes at the standard price of £6.29 / €6.99. While four sets of DLC for RPG Maker Fes come at £0.89 / €0.99 a piece. And in case you forgot, there’s another Testpunch for ARMS starting tomorrow (16:00 GMT) and ending on Sunday (21:00 GMT) so don’t forget to download it if you’re interested!

PayPal Comes to Nintendo Switch

It seems making payments on the Nintendo eShop are becoming a little easier. Users have recently reported that an option for PayPal is now appearing when purchasing games on the Nintendo Switch eShop. The option initially rolled out in Japan, but it should also be available in Europe and North America now too!

Not only does this generally make payments easier, but it supposedly also opens up a better option for purchasing games from other regions as PayPal is more flexible with international payments.

What do you think of the new payment option? Tell us in the comments below!

I am a huge Nintendo fan, hence why NintyBuzz exists. I especially love all things Zelda and Metroid. NintyBuzz was started by me back in the Summer of 2014, it started out mainly as a hobby, though the site has gradually grown, and I hope it grows for many years to come!

Rayman Legends Definitive Edition Demo Out Now

The limbless hero is punching his way onto the Nintendo Switch in a month’s time, but in the meantime Ubisoft has launched the demo for Rayman Legends Definitive Edition for the European Nintendo eShop today (the US will receive it a little later today).

You can download it now if you have a European Nintendo Switch account by going to the Coming Soon tab on the eShop, clicking Rayman Legends Definitive Edition, and then giving Download Demo a good tap! The demo requires approximately 730mb to download.

Rayman Legends Definitive Edition releases exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on the 12th September 2017.

TOURNEY – Summer Splat-a-thon Supreme 2016

Can you believe it, Summer is nearly over. We still can’t get over The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild from E3, but pretty soon we will have to return to normality, back to school, back to baggy trousers, that sort of thing. Luckily, we have one very last-minute organised trick up our sleeve to end Summer with a bang!

To top off the peak of Summer, we’d thought to host a new Splatoon tournament, the NintyBuzz Summer Splat-a-thon Supreme! We have actually already hosted this tournament before, back on 3DS Buzz Forums, before the big merge, last year. In the end, the member Pepe claimed victory and is chuffed with his Lucina Amiibo to top off his Fire Emblem series.

Check out all the info for this year after the break!

Weekend NintyBeats — The Homely Western Planet

The music of Nintendo games make them truly remarkable and memorable. To show our love of the music, every Friday we share a selection of tracks from various Nintendo titles, new and old.

In past NintyBeats, I may have neglected to give indie games the attention they deserve (possibly; even I don’t read these things). So this week, ’tis the time to focus on the music of three of Nintendo’s finest indie titles.

REVIEW – BOX BOY!

The latest box-related 3DS eShop title, BOX BOY!, is developed by prominent Nintendo developer HAL Laboratory (of Kirby & Smash fame). A totally new concept from a developer like HAL is certainly interesting, but is it any good? Mr. Fuego gives his (extraordinarily belated) thoughts on the game…
