Splatoon Direct Announcements

Wasn’t that a short and sweet direct… well maybe not so sweet, those Inkling’s look very mischievous! Though the majority of the Direct was basically recapping information which we have heard before, there were still some very interesting information announced too.

Check out what they were after the break!

Meet Yooka and Laylee in Yooka-Laylee!

Those of you who have been following the ex-Rare employees and their newly found company, Playtonic Game, may have heard of a little project called Project Ukulele. Gamers rejoice, as the wonderfully British team have just revealed the main characters you will be controlling as well as the name of the game you will hopefully be playing (thanks to some ‘non-violent motivation’ from us).

Project Ukulele will now be referred to as Yooka and Laylee, and the game will be called… well… Yooka-Laylee. Yooka is a chameleon who can use its tongue to hang from various obstacles and probably reach items that are a bit to far for normal reach. Yooka will also be carrying along Laylee, the bat. Laylee is able to pick up Yooka and fly for a short period of time across chasms and can also emit a sonar blast. It is promised that there will be several other abilities the characters can perform together as a duo.

The Kickstarter will be launched tomorrow (May 1st) and the game is planned to be released on Mac, PC, Linux, Wii U, Xbox One and PS4, when each version will be released will all depend on the success of the crowd-funder, though seeing how known the developers are and how many vocal fans there are (myself included), I don’t see there being much problem for Playtonic to reach those targets.

Players who have £10/$15 to spare can reserve themselves a final copy if they pledge on Kickstarter. It has also been hinted that there will be other rewards, such as soundtracks, art books and a ’64-Bit’ special edition when the Kickstarter goes live!

What do you think of the characters? Will you be pledging? Tell us in the comments below!

Splat Direct! Splatoon Nintendo Direct Next Thursday

Update – Apologies, the reported date is a Thursday, NOT a Friday.

We don’t usually cover news, but when we do, it’s got to be exciting, and here we are! We may have had a Nintendo Direct at the beginning of the month (not including the Xenoblade Mini-Direct last week), but it seems they think that we already deserve another direct, this time focusing on Splatoon, next Thursday (7th May 2015)

You can expect it to air in various regions as follows:

North America – 10am EST

UK – 3pm BST

Europe – 4pm CEST

Australia/New Zealand – Midnight AEST

Japan – 11pm

No news yet how long this Direct will be, it could just be another mini-Direct, but we’ll be sure to have a discussion about the event soon after.

Splatoon will be released on the 29th May 2015 in Europe and North America.

NintyTalk – Buzzing Revival

Well, we have worked hard (mostly) over the weekend for this and we are now ready to reveal… well, what we have been working on, obviously!

Anywho, we are happy to announce NintyTalk! NintyTalk is a brand new feature in which we will have a spontaneous discussion on recent Nintendo and other gaming news. As this is still very early days, so we may be a bit rusty (heck, we’re very rusty) but hopefully, the more we do, the more we should improve.

Now, in this instalment of NintyTalk, we’ll be discussing the NintyBuzz revival, Xenoblade X Mini-Direct, Smash Bros. DLC, Mario Kart DLC, Zelda Wii U Delay and Project Ukulele!

Please tell us what you think of this episode and how we could improve. See you next time!

Summer Splat-athon Supreme (Splatoon Tournament)

Good evening Inklings of the world! Do you have an intense thirst for competition? Do you want to paint the town red (or green, or yellow, or blue, or purple)? Then be sure to apply to compete in the Summer Splat-athon Supreme over at 3DS Buzz. Starting June, competitors will battle it out on Splatoon to see who can claim the most territory and claim ultimate victory!

The tournament will be hosted by me, and if I can sort out the money, there may also be prizes to be won too. Even if there isn’t, it is still a good way to get even more fun out of Splatoon.

Click here to find out more!

Splatoon will be released on the 29th May 2015 in Europe and North America.

REVIEW – Mario Party 10

Some of you may be convinced that I ate a Poisonous Mushroom as I recently decided to purchase the digital version of Mario Party 10, and I’ll be honest, half of me is thinking I had a nibble at that aforementioned shroom. I’ve been able to have a good play around with it, so let us get on with the review. I think the easiest way to do this, is to separate the good from the bad, so let us begin with the good (yes, there are still good factors in a Mario Party title) right after the break!

NOTE – A lot of the review contradicts itself… YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
