The Pokémon Company have just released a brand new Pokémon Presents presentation, a video broadcast of upcoming products from the company. This broadcast was 28 minutes long, the longest since they first began in 2013. The focus of the presentation was advertised to feature the upcoming Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl titles, which launches for Nintendo Switch on November 19th 2021, and Pokémon Legends Arceus releasing early next year, on January 28th 2022. But were any other exciting announcements made? Here’s a recap of the presentation!

New Pokémon such as Mamoswine and Sylveon will also be heading to the game in the future.

Next up is Pokémon Café Mix, which is getting an overhaul, and a brand new title! Pokémon Café Remix will feature refreshed puzzles, and new elements to make the game even more interesting. New Pokémon will be added to the game, and new dress-up options will be available. The company seems to be looking at the long term future of the title, as they described it as an opportunity for fans to enjoy it “for years to come”. The update will arrive sometime in the Fall of 2021.

Pokémon Master’s EX

Pokémon Go

The focus on mobile continues with Pokémon Go and its 5th-anniversary celebrations, detailing the upcoming Ultra Unlock Part 3 event, which occurs on August 20th until August 31st, where you can find Pokémon originally found in the Galar region, such as Wooloo, Skwovet and Falinks. The legendary Pokémon Zacian and Zamazenta will appear in five-star raids, so be sure to team up with friends for your first opportunity to catch these beasts.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

Finally, we can now learn more about the upcoming Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Pokémon Shining Pearl games. A brand new trailer shows footage from the remade title, presenting more of the overworld, characters, battles and multiplayer activities. We also get to see the Grand Underground, and that Pokémon can follow behind you, as seen in some previous games.

The game remains faithful to its original titles released fifteen years ago and focuses on the protagonists exploring the Sinnoh region, catching and training pokémon, collecting gym badges to prove their worth, taking on the Pokémon League and completing the Pokédex. Many gameplay features return, revamped for a new generation. One of the more exciting returning features is the Grand Underground, where players can dig up fossils, items and create secret bases that can be decorated with Pokémon statues. The underground has been expanded to include new areas called Pokémon Hideaways, which were not in the original games. These areas include pokémon which appear depending on the kinds of statues you have inside your secret base, and some Pokémon can only be found there exclusively. Another cool feature is that you can now change your outfit and wear your favourite styles on your adventure across Sinnoh.

A special edition Nintendo Switch Lite was also announced, based on the Nintendo DS Lite Onyx Dialga & Palkia edition released in 2006. The system is dressed with images of Dialga and Palkia on the back of the console. It will be released on November 5th 2021, which is after the release of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Pokémon Legends Arceus

Finally, Pokémon Legends Arceus, showing a lengthy trailer of the upcoming title. It’s a new approach for the company, combining action and RPG elements. This adventure takes place in the Sinnoh region of old, when it was known as the Hisui region, a time period where it was rare for Pokémon and humans to coexist in harmony. Mt. Coronet is a huge landform that exists within the centre of the Hisui region, and can be seen from any of the rich vibrant environments you explore, as you find populated with many different Pokémon ecosystems.

Jubilife will become the base for adventures in Pokémon Legends Arceus, and is home to the Galaxy expedition team, made up of individuals from other regions. There are different divisions within Galaxy, which include the Medical corps, Security corps and the Survey corps, the latter of which is responsible for researching Pokémon.

Members of the Galaxy team include Professor Laventon, an expert in the ecology of Pokémon, and studies the interactions of Pokémon within their environments. He entrusts one of his Pokémon he met on his travels to you for your journey. Captain Cyllene is in charge of the Galaxy Team’s Survey Corps, who will watch over your progress. Commander Kamado’s responsibility is the Expedition team, who recognises your abilities in Pokémon research, and so allows you to join the Galaxy team as a member of the Survey Corps.

As a member of the Survey Corps, you will observe and capture Pokémon to discover how they live, and will allow you to discover the true purpose of your adventure. As you journey through the Hisui region, you will be able to rest and prepare at base camps, where you can purchase and craft items for your research assignments, and heal up your tired Pokémon if it becomes too much. You will be vulnerable to attacks from wild pokémon, and you may blackout if you take too much damage. Return to the village to report on survey assignments, and add new details to the first-ever Pokédex! There are different research tasks for each Pokémon, such as how many times your pokemon used a specific move, how many of its forms are registered, and the number of each species evolved.

Pokémon in the wild will react differently as you approach them for capture. Some will require you to sneak up carefully through tall grass so they are not startled, while some more aggressive Pokémon will need to be weakened before you can capture them, with different tricks required to catch them. If you throw a pokéball next to a wild Pokémon that contains one of your own, you will begin a Pokémon battle. These battles are similar to traditional Pokémon games, but Legends Arceus will give you the option of using two different battle styles. The strong style increases a move’s power, but the action speed of your Pokémon will lower as a result. The agile style will provide the opposite effect. These different styles will be useful to gain the upper hand in battle!

Brand new Pokémon and new Pokémon forms were revealed as part of the Pokémon Legends Arceus segment, which include Wyrdeer, an evolution of Stantler which has evolved by being exposed to the harsh natural environments of the Hisui region. Basculegion, an evolution of Basculin, which evolves when exposed to the restless souls of Basculin that perished on their journey (pretty dark in our opinion!). Two Hisuian forms were also revealed, which include Braviary and Growlithe.

Pre Orders for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond, Pokémon Shining Pearl, and Pokémon Legends Arceus have now opened for the game on Nintendo Switch eShop. Just before the presentation ended, it was confirmed that these games will have compatibility with the Pokémon Home app in 2022.

Presentation Ends

Overall, some very exciting announcements were shared, and we can’t get enough of how adorable Hisuian Growlithe looks!
