Tracker of Time – Captain Toad Was Originally a Zelda Prototype

According to Game Informer, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker director, Shinya Hiratake, dreamt of creating a game which were made up of small diorama-like levels, where that main character couldn’t jump. The player would, instead, have to move the camera around the level to help guide your character to the goal. This dream eventually lead itself to become Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker however, this dream actually started off staring Link, the main protagonist from The Legend of Zelda franchise.

Mario Kart 8 Takes A Pit Stop Late Tonight For Maintenance

If you have a gander at the Nintendo Network Status page, you would notice that there will be some planned downtime for online services on Mario Kart 8 due to maintenance tonight and early tomorrow morning. So, if you are a night bird or an early bird and are hoping for some online Mario Kart fun, then unfortunately you will have to detour your time onto offline play momentarily. RUMOUR – A Nintendo Classic To Get The Remastered Treatment?

Nintendo have been known to create quite a few remakes of classic Nintendo games over the past few years. First we had several N64 classics come to the 3DS such as Star Fox [Lylat Wars as it was known in Europe] and Ocarina of Time. We also have Win Waker HD for Wii U that came out last year, and we also have Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire to look forward to for the Nintendo 3DS in a couple months.

According to a Twitter user, Nintendo are now working an another remaster of a classic title for the Wii U to close the gap of the software lineup. He says in his original tweet that “You’re gonna love it, but it’s a Remaster, It’s perfect to fill gaps in the line-up.” He also goes on to mention that it will most likely come out in early-2015.

You are probably thinking, “why should this even be considered a rumour, it’s just a Twitter user?” however this is the same person who also predicted that Devil’s Third would come to the Wii U and that Nintendo were remaking Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. Many have already speculated that this remaster could be Majora’s Mask, or even Super Mario 64!

What do you think, is it the real deal or is it a fake? What Nintendo classic would you like to replay?

Smash Bros. Special Edition 3DS XL Smashing Onto Shelves

With just over a month until Super Smash Bros. for 3DS is released in Europe, Nintendo of Europe have just recently announced this beauty, a Limited Edition Smash Bros. 3DS XL system!

As you can see, the Limited Edition design features the snazzy new Smash logo in the top right corner as well as a long line of fighters from the game, both newcomers and veterans. It will also come with a pre-installed version of Super Smash Bros. for 3DS.

The console will have limited availability at selected retailers and the Official Nintendo Store UK, and will retail for around £210. There is currently no word on a US release, though seeing how big the release is, I would definitely not rule out a US release.

What do you think of this new design? What is your favourite colour or design?

Super Smash Bros. is set to be released for 3DS on the 13th September 2014 in Japan, 3rd October 2014 in Europe and North America, and a day later in Australia. The Wii U version is set to be released during Q4 2014.
