REVIEW – No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle

The original No More Heroes set itself a well-earned spot in the cult classic pantheon for its grindhouse aesthetic and harsh, often self-deprecating criticism of hardcore violence. A lot of this likely flew over the general audience’s heads as they saw the crass Travis Touchdown swearing and cutting down droves of faceless goons in a ridiculously over the top fashion. So a second go was in order, despite the previous game’s generally conclusive ending, which also now ironically teased that a sequel won’t ever happen. The United Assassin’s Association has now fully become the organisation that was only suggested in the first game, a ruthless entertainment industry leader in recreational killing for the masses. Travis now finds himself bound to a story he doesn’t want to be a part of in order to seek vengeance for the death of his best friend, let the bloodshed begin anew.

Long time fan of Nintendo and games in general, I always lean on the quirkier and unique sides of things in particular. It all started when I was lucky enough to get a Gameboy Color and Pokemon Yellow for my tenth birthday and it’s been going strong ever since. I’ve always had a need to get my voice heard and share anything I find interesting with the world.

REVIEW – No More Heroes

Over the years, Nintendo has built itself a reputation for catering to the all-ages market, with even their more mature titles never really pushing anything beyond the teen demographic. This extends even into third party efforts, with many exclusives still being aimed at younger or general audiences. So to have a game come along where the protagonist’s first line of non-narration dialogue is a hard expletive right after he’s decapitated a pair of guards, blood exaggeratingly spraying dozens of feet into the air is both astonishing and also very exciting. Welcome to the brutal world of No More Heroes, where assassins fight each other to the death to attain the glorious ranking title of number one.

NintyPlays – Ty the Tasmanian Tiger HD

Recently, I’ve been streaming more regularly over on our Twitch profile. Most of the streams have been multiplayer-focused to support Nintendo Players UK and their NPUK Online campaign, however, we have also been starting our own play-through series: NintyPlays!

Every Friday, we have been playing through Ty the Tasmanian Tiger HD on Nintendo Switch. Even though tomorrow we will be concluding the game, I am hoping to continue the series with even more titles. If you were not able to catch the play-throughs live, never fear as we have also been uploading each one to YouTube. Please check out the game so far below. Don’t forget to check out our Twitch profile too!

I am a huge Nintendo fan, hence why NintyBuzz exists. I especially love all things Zelda and Metroid. NintyBuzz was started by me back in the Summer of 2014, it started out mainly as a hobby, though the site has gradually grown, and I hope it grows for many years to come!

NintyBeats – Valentines Day 2020 Edition

NintyBeats returns for its first feature of 2020. As its February, we are celebrating the theme of romance. But there will be no need to check into a Love Hotel! For this feature, I have chosen four themes that feature some kind of romantic connection, but which ones come up smelling of roses?

Forums to close end of January

3DS Buzz and 3DS Buzz Forums first opened its doors way back in 2011. It was the first time I had ever truly felt at home on an online community. There were loads of other gamers from around the world to talk to about Nintendo as well as other random subjects. It truly was a great place to hang out online.

When 3DS Buzz shut down, I decided to take over the forums in 2016 in an attempt to revive the community. Unfortunately, after 8 glorious years, it is time to finally say goodbye to the forums. Come 31st January 2019, it will no longer be possible to register an account, log in, or post any more content. The forums may be inaccessible for a period of time, but I will ensure that an archive will be made so people can reminisce about the toilet thread… an other serious subjects.

The reason I chose to close down the forums is primarily because I just do not have the time or resources to try and make the community active again. I tried a few things, but I never really got much traction. Who knows though, maybe someday in the future the forums could see a return, but in the meantime, it has been an absolute pleasure talking to everyone there.

I still fully intend on continuing writing for NintyBuzz however. In addition to this, it is still entirely possible to post comments on the articles here. If you logged onto NintyBuzz using your forum details before December 2018, you should still be able to log into it using the same details for commenting purposes. In addition to this, I am completely open to the possibility of implementing some light community building features, such as messaging and groups, if the need is there.

Finally, a Discord server was also set up a few months ago for an easier way to just chat with other members of the community. Be sure to check it out here!

Until next time
Keep on buzzin’
