REVIEW – Nintendo Labo: Variety and Robot Kits

Who knew that a company like Nintendo could get away with selling cardboard. Heres the thing though, it isn’t just any kind of cardboard, it’s Nintendo Labo. These kits allow you to make a range of different toys called ToyCons, you can then play with said ToyCons, then you can discover how they work and even create your own ToyCons.

Does Nintendo Labo provide more fun than cardboard should, or has it got less depth than flatpacked furniture? Find out in our review after the break!

Nintendo’s E3 2018 Details

Over the weekend, Nintendo announced their plans for this years E3 event. You know, that one week a year that is literally a second Christmas for gamers across the globe.

Kick-starting Nintendo’s presence at E3 2018 is the Splatoon 2 World Championships’ opening rounds. This will start at 11:30pm BST on Monday 11th June 2018 and will find the creme de la creme of worldwide Splatoon 2 champions.

The main event will proceed a day later on Tuesday 12th June 2018 in Nintendo’s Video Presentation. As per usual, Nintendo will be showcasing a range of upcoming Nintendo Switch games for 2018 (and probably beyond). Expect some Smash Bros. and new announcements here. It is currently unknown how long the presentation will be at this time.

The video presentation will be directly followed by three full days of Nintendo Treehouse: Live. This is the chance to get a closer looks at games from the video presentation, along with some commentary by the Nintendo Treehouse and game developers. If it’s anything like previous years, we may receive even more reveals.

The 12th June will also see the grand finales of not only the Splatoon 2 World Championships, but also the Super Smash Bros. Invitational, back to back. More details of specific timings will follow.

You can catch most, if not all, these events on our E3 2018 Hub, or Nintendo’s Official E3 Microsite.

Check out the full press release below!

Satoru Shibata Retiring as Nintendo of Europe President

Kimishima isn’t the only one stepping down from their role at Nintendo shortly. Satoru Shibata, President of Nintendo of Europe, will also be retiring from his role. It is currently unknown who will be taking over his role.

It isn’t all doom and gloom however, though he will be stepping down as the president of NoE, he will be stepping up as director, giving him a more executive role for the company. With a bit of luck, maybe we will still see him make appearances at events and receive public messages from him, which has always been a delight.

Tatsumi Kimishima Retiring as President of Nintendo

Tatsumi Kimishima has been operating as the President of Nintendo for three years, taking over Satoru Iwata’s roles after his tragic and sudden passing. Though it was meant as a temporary role, he was president of the Japanese company over one of Nintendo’s most successful periods. That is, of course, the thriving launch of the Nintendo Switch.

When he steps down on the 28th June 2018, Shuntaro Furukawa will take the reins of Nintendo as the new president. He originally joined Nintendo in 1994, where he has worked in marketing for the company, as well as at The Pokémon Company. More recently, he has worked as Nintendo’s Managing Executive Officer, Supervisor of Corporate Analysis & Administration Division and Director.

We look forward to see what Furukawa can bring to Nintendo for the future.
