Five remakes we want for the Nintendo Switch

It’s no secret that the Nintendo Switch has seen various remakes in it’s first 16 months on the market. Most of the remakes happened to be of Wii U games, which brought some of the consoles best games to those who never owned a Wii U. It got me thinking however, what other games would (re)make a perfect fit for the Nintendo Switch, not just Wii U games, but games from other Nintendo consoles!

Check out the top five Nintendo games we want remade for the Nintendo Switch after the break.

OMG! Double Barrel Shotgun all the way in Fortnite update

The dudes, dudettes, and everything in-between at Epic Games have launched a brand new update for Fortnite, bringing the software version up to 5.20! There are two major editions to this update, a brand new weapon, and a brand new LTM (limited time mode).

The update introduces the brand new double barrelled shotgun that packs one heck of a punch at close range, which is exacerbated by it’s double shot. This ballistic weapon comes in both the Epic and Legendary variety, so pick one up before anyone else can for a close range devastation.

The update comes packed with a brand new LTM too; Steady Storm. Do you often find yourself searching for goodies while waiting for the storm to shrink again? Well, you better watch yourselves as this mode contains no safe zones. Once the storm starts, it will not stop, who knows where the eye of the storm will lead ya!

There have of course been a couple new additions to the Save the World mode, but as it still isn’t available to play on Switch, I’m going to keep that in the press release below along with the rest of the patch notes. Check them out after the break!

A New Smash Direct Approaching This Week

Following the very questionable behaviour from EVO last night, from both spectators and a specific player, Nintendo soon got the hype rolling again by announcing a brand new Nintendo Direct, one which will focus purely on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, for those who haven’t had enough smash in their lives yet. The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct will air this Wednesday 8th August 2018 at 3pm BST (please look below for more timezones). We will have an embed available on Wednesday before it airs!

What will this Direct entail? Who knows, all we know is that it will focus primarily on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. If it’s anything like the Smash Wii U Direct, hopefully we may hear a couple new character reveals (remember new characters will be at a minimum according to Sakurai), and possible some info on the other modes that we get to delve into in December. Though it may not happen, it would make a lot of sense to reveal some more information on the Nintendo Switch Online service which is supposed to go live next month.

What do you hope to see in this Direct? Any characters you hope will join the roster which isn’t Waluigi? Tell us in the comments below! If you want more Smash Bros. action to keep you occupied, be sure to check out our sneak preview of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate from last week!

Off screen Super Smash Bros. Ultimate gameplay

Sunday just gone, I was able to attend the Nintendo UK VS Live event. Not only were there some fun tournaments to compete in and to watch, but there were also a bunch of upcoming Switch games to play too, including Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

I was able to record some off screen footage of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, both videos can be viewed below. The first is from the Spirit Train stage, originally from the 3DS iteration, and the second is from Green Hill Zone.

Nintendo Labo goes all terrain in brand new Vehicle Kits

Back in April, Nintendo Labo took the world by storm in unique new ways, with cardboard. The kits allowed you to create a ranged of different ToyCons and play with them in various ways by using the Nintendo Switch hardware and software. Labo also came with some really cool creation tools so you could programme your own ToyCon too. We absolutely loved Nintendo Labo, don’t believe us? Check out our review!

If you are starting to feel bored with all the ToyCon you’ve built already, then you’re in luck as Nintendo Labo is going all terrain in the newly announced Vehicle Kit. This kit allows you to create ToyCons like a Car, a Submarine, a Plane, a Pedal, two Keys and more, you can also seem to change your vehicle on the fly in one huge world. Best of all, there isn’t long to wait as the kit releases on the 14th September 2017… in just over a month!

Check out the press release after the break!

Playground Mode returns to Fortnite in 1st Birthday update

Last month, Epic Games included a brand new limited time mode (or LTM) called Playground Mode. This peaceful mode allowed players to roam around the world freely, either on their own or in a squad, and build to their hearts content. It’s perfect for practicing for Battle Royale, or if you just want to screw about with your friends. The mode returns tomorrow (25th July 2018) for a limited time with brand new features, such as more supply drops, lowered respawn time, in-game team switching, and more.

That’s not all as today marks Fortnite’s 1st Birthday! To celebrate, Epic have included some exclusive birthday swag. Each Birthday challenge which you complete will unlock a new piece of Birthday gear. You can also find slices of Birthday cake around the world which will increase both your health and shield by 5 points. Finally, there have also been a few cosmetic changes added to the battle bus and supply drops.

Check out the full patch notes from the 5.10 update, which is live now, right after the break!
