There’s A New Fire Emblem Coming to 3DS!

Fans of turn based strategy rejoice – a sequel to the stunning Fire Emblem Awakening is coming to 3DS! The as yet untitled game is being developed by Intelligent Systems, the same team behind its predecessor (as well as the magnificent first three Paper Mario games).

Fore those unfamiliar with the series, Fire Emblem is a long running grid based strategy game that was known for its brutal difficulty stemming from its permadeath mechanics – although easier modes have been introduced in recent years. The series has had a shaky history in the past, but awakening was something of a commercial success over here, so the series really is on the up.

There’s no word on a release date yet, but given the fact that we don’t even have a title yet, we could be waiting until 2016. Still, at least we’ve got Intelligent Systems’ other 3DS project, Code Name S.T.E.A.M. to tide us over…

Release Date for the New 3DS Confirmed

It’s been out in Japan and Australia since last year, but today Nintendo finally confirmed when we’ll be able to get our hands on the New Nintendo 3DS in the west – it will be out on Friday 13th February in the US and Europe!

These dates are not a particular surprise – in fact the US release date was leaked earlier this week via a giant promotional poster. Still, it’s nice to have official confirmation, right?

The new 3DS models have pretty much launched to critical acclaim, so it’s a really exciting time for what still is one of the only mass market auto-stereoscopic devices available. If you aren’t sure whether to upgrade, check out Leon’s in depth review (and when we say in depth, we mean it!) and his hands on videos with his very own ambassador console. Or, if you’re a fan of cardboard boxes, head on over to the unboxing video.

Will you be embracing the New?

Pokemon Shuffle is Free to Play and Out in February

Free to play doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere any time soon, and Nintendo will be getting in on that action with a brand new Pokemon game – Pokemon Shuffle. In true free to play style, the new game is another of those puzzle-shifting-match-three things, and is not dissimilar from the previous Pokemon Link/Trozei games.

The free to play elements will be familiar to anyone who owns a smartphone – you use up a heart each time a stage is tackled, and regenerate hearts as time passes, but this process can be sped up if you part with some card hold cash. Nintendo previously experimented with the free to play model when it released Steel Diver sub wars, but this seems to be a much more confident effort with more potential for wide appeal.

Pokemon Shuffle will be out in February for 3DS, and naturally will be free to download. Will you be picking up a copy?

RUMOUR – New 3DS To be Released Mid-February?

With the Nintendo Direct airing later tomorrow, it has been predicted that we may hear an announcement on when the New Nintendo 3DS will be released in Europe and the US. It turns out this date may have just been leaked.

According to Megauap from NeoGAF, the above is a promotional poster for the New Nintendo 3DS stating that it will be released on the 13th February in the US. It seems that the poster could be legitimate with the Nintendo Direct tomorrow, meaning that, if it is true, retailers may start putting up posters like these directly after the stream. It is also interesting to note that the poster includes the box art for Majora’s Mask 3D and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. Is it possible that these two titles will also be released on the 13th February? Only time will tell!

What do you think of the poster? Tell us in the comments below!

Majora’s Mask 3D to Update Owl Statues and Bomber’s Notebook

With Majora’s Mask 3D’s release date slowly coming into sight, Nintendo have taken this opportunity to reveal a couple of new details about what game should improve on from the original.

They have recently talked briefly about the Bomber’s Notebook, the handy little guide to note down your progress in side-quests, with GameMaster Magazine, and how this has been updated for the Nintendo 3DS. It has also been ‘leaked’ on Amazon Germany that the title may add convenient ‘feather statues’ to join the owl statues, which acted as save points.

Check out more details after the break!

REVIEW – New Nintendo 3DS

In 2011, Nintendo introduced the first glasses-free 3D handheld console with the Nintendo 3DS. A year later, in 2012, Nintendo released the XL counterpart promising larger screens. This was followed by a 3D-less budget model another year later, in 2013, with the 2DS. Now, Nintendo are starting to introduce the newest member of the 3DS family, though this time it isn’t just the aesthetics that have been changed, the whole system has received a hefty update!

We were lucky enough to get our hands on the New Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Edition, which has been offered to select Club Nintendo members within Europe. Today, we will be reviewing the console, giving you a lowdown on what we think. Hopefully this should aid you in the decision of whether or not to upgrade [or to dip into the 3DS pool if you haven’t already]

Without further ado, check out our full review after the break!
