Rocket League’s Tournament Update Races to Switch Soon

Thanks to the recent European Spring Sale on the Nintendo eShop, I recently started getting into Rocket League, and it looks like now is the perfect time to join the party. Rocket League’s upcoming Tournament Update is launching next week, across all supported consoles, including the Nintendo Switch.

On the 3rd April 2018, Rocket League will be adding a brand new mode, Tournament Mode. With this mode, you will be able to easily create your own tournaments as well as join them. You can also set specific rules and restrictions, such as the Game Mode and Rank Levels.

The update will be including a bunch of other new features too. These include the ability to more easily sort through your Garage inventory, equipping specific car body parts to orange and blue, and in-game quality status indicators.

If you’re like me and own Rocket League for the Nintendo Switch, the update will include even more features. Wish you had a way to quickly capture and upload a sweet goal or an evil demolition? The new update will now allow you to take 30 second video captures with the JoyCon capture buttons. Additionally, if you appreciate some more detailed graphics, the update will also allow you to ‘Switch’ between Performance and Quality modes.

As it currently stands, the current default is Performance mode which runs at a steady 60FPS with a bit of a sacrifice from the graphics. If you do not mind 30FPS, then you can switch to Quality mode which will lock the resolution at 1920×1080 (docked) or 1280×720 (handheld).

The Tournament Update will go live for Rocket League on Tuesday 3rd April 2018.

I am a huge Nintendo fan, hence why NintyBuzz exists. I especially love all things Zelda and Metroid. NintyBuzz was started by me back in the Summer of 2014, it started out mainly as a hobby, though the site has gradually grown, and I hope it grows for many years to come!

European eShop Sale Springs into Action

Starting this Thursday until 5th April 2018, more than 140 titles on the Wii U, 3DS, and Switch eShops will be receiving some warming discounts for Spring (if it ever gets here!)

If you haven’t sprung into ARMS yet, now’s your chance with 33% off the title. Or maybe playing Breath of the Wild has you gasping for more Zelda, in which case, you can purchase The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D for nearly 50% off! With over 140 titles receiving some decent discounts, maybe you’ll find a new hidden gem in the vast selection of eShop games.

The full press release can be read after the break!

Rocket League Switch Exclusives Revealed

Today Psyonix showcased three Switch exclusive vehicles through their Rocket League YouTube channel.

The video showed (rather expected) Mario and Luigi vehicles named ‘Mario NSR’ and ‘Luigi NSR’ respectively. But as you may have guessed from the featured image, the show stopper was the car based on ‘Samus’ Gunship’ which looks absolutely stunning.

These vehicles come free and will be available to unlock on launch day (though we still know no further than Holiday 2017). And despite how gorgeous the trailer is, there wasn’t any gameplay so we don’t know if sparks and movement graphics will be replaced by Stars and rainbows for the Mario cars – at least I’m hoping for this attention to detail to be realised!

Pyonix still hasn’t detailed what the ‘exclusive customization items‘ will be, or whether any more vehicles will be released on or after launch, yet with the quality of that Metroid representation, I’m sure it’ll be just as awesome.

Rocket League – Review

*Strong Language Warning*

Let’s start out with this statement: I can’t stand football. I find the whole concept of rude idiots (mostly, some of them are nice and intelligent) kicking a ball around a field and falling over like they’ve been on the receiving end of a tactical carpet bombing getting paid enormously vast sums of money for it to be completely baffling. Not that professional sport shouldn’t be a thing, but the money involved in professional football is vastly disproportionate to almost any other sport, excluding motorsport because the science behind that stuff cost a shit load of money.

Now I could go on about this subject, in fact I did on the first draft of this, but that’s not why you’re here. The purpose of the above paragraph was to show the point that I really like Rocket League means. (more…)
