Nintendo Switch Hands On – Ask Your Questions

UPDATE – There’s till a bit of time to submit your questions!

Let’s be honest, 2016 has been pretty lame, many icons have died, a racist who has been Tango’d is president, and Breath of the Wild still isn’t out. 2017 looks like it will turn out much better. It’s definitely gong to start of with a bang, especially with the big Nintendo Switch Presentation in January. I was lucky enough to receive an invite to a hands-on event for the Switch, soon after the presentation.

We hope to have some big questions answered during the live presentation, but maybe there are some specific questions that can only be answered after trying out the console. Because of this, I plan to hold a AMAA on my Nintendo Switch experience. Ask any questions you may have about the Switch (within reason) below, and I’ll try my best to answer them. To ask your questions, you will need to have created an account on the forum.

Expect to find out more about my Nintendo Switch experience soon after the 13th January 2017!

Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017 Details

Last month, Nintendo finally unveiled their new concept console, Nintendo Switch, to the whole world in a three minute trailer. Soon after the video aired, Nintendo also announced that they will be revealing more information regarding the console on the 13th January 2017. Today, Nintendo have announced further details around this event.

A presentation will air direct from Tokyo at 12 Noon JST. If you are in the UK, you may be annoyed to learn that this translates to 3am GMT, though I’m sure it will be worth waking up early for (or not even sleeping). If you’d rather not wake up at that ungodly hour, then we will do our best to have a chunky blowout article ready for you with your morning orange juice (not included). Elsewhere in the world, the event will be airing at 7pm PST, 9pm CST, and 10pm EST on the 12th January 2017.

Nintendo have also announced that the event will be specifically talking about the exact launch date, along with the launch line-up of games currently in development. So expect to see some pretty big announcements then.

Throughout the day, I will create a new page specifically for the event. This will have an embed of the live stream, along with the forum shoutbox, similar to the setup we had for E3 this year. This way, you will be able to interact with different fans during the stream.

Yooka-Laylee – Release Date, Nintendo Switch, and More!

One of the most anticipated games of next year, for those who are fans of the good old 3D Collect-a-thons, is quickly approaching its release. Playtonic have finally announced the release date for Yooka-Laylee. Those who have pledged, pre-ordered, or who are considering purchasing the title, can expect its debut for PC, Mac, XBOX One, and PS4 on the 11th April 2017.

You may have noticed that the Nintendo Wii U was omitted from the above list. Unfortunately, due to ‘technical issues’ that have arisen, Yooka-Laylee has been cancelled for Wii U. Apparently, these issues have been present for several months, but Playtonic was unable to find a workaround. Though this may come to a disappointment to many fans, Playtonic also announced that Yooka-Laylee will instead come out on the Nintendo Switch at a later date, so it isn’t all doom and gloom.

Along with these release date announcements, Playtonic have also released two new trailers for Yooka-Laylee. One shows off a brand new world called Capital Cashino. The second video goes more in-depth with the first world of the game, Tribalstack Tropics. Be sure to check them out after the break!

Nintendo NX is Nintendo Switch!

Today is a glorious day for Nintendo fans everywhere, as we finally received the first ever look at Nintendo NX, which has been officially titled the Nintendo Switch!

Nintendo have once again opted for a fairly bizarre name, but already they have revealed some very exciting features. It has been rumoured for a while that the console will use cartridges, and that it will be a hybrid console. Both these rumours deemed to be true. It looks like there will be many different control schemes. There is a gamepad type controller which has two controller sticks that slot to the side. You can then travel around with the gamepad to play games on the move, some will also allow multiplayer on the move with one or two screens. Dock the gamepad into the console, and then you can enjoy the games in the comfort of your own home. It definitely looks like Nintendo will switch up gameplay once again!

We also had a glimpse of a few games which will be releasing on Switch, including a new NBA game, a new Mario game, and, surprisingly enough, even a Skyrim game. It also looks like the console will either be backwards compatible, or include ports of previous Wii U games, as seen by the Splatoon footage… or perhaps we are being treated to a Splatoon sequel… Spla-Two-oon anyone?

We do not know much more at the moment, though Nintendo do promise to host a proper reveal, which shouldn’t take too much longer as it seems Nintendo are sticking to their March 2017 release.
