Miiverse Shuts Down November 2017

Since its debut in 2012 for the Wii U, Miiverse has provided a network where Nintendo gamers could talk about their favourite Wii U and 3DS games. Whether you were asking for help, showing off your achievements, or even sharing your artistic talent, Miiverse was the place to be. As we progress further into the life of the Nintendo Switch, unfortunately it is just about time to say our goodbye to Miiverse, as Nintendo has announced it’s closure for the 8th November 2017.

Nintendo has compiled a list of answers to some questions you may have. The service will officially be shutting down, along with Wii U Chat, on the 8th November 2017 at 6am UK Time, and will remove Miiverse features from every game that utilises them. If there any Miiverse posts that you would like to keep, you can request to receive a download of them (excluding comments) by visiting Miiverse on a computer or phone and clicking “Post History Download Information”. You can view the full FAQ by clicking here.

Let us celebrate Miiverse’s legacy by posting your favourite Miiverse posts in the comments below!

I am a huge Nintendo fan, hence why NintyBuzz exists. I especially love all things Zelda and Metroid. NintyBuzz was started by me back in the Summer of 2014, it started out mainly as a hobby, though the site has gradually grown, and I hope it grows for many years to come!

Watch Dogs Wii U Lacks Screenshot Support

One of Ubisoft’s latest open world games, Watch Dogs, was recently released for the Nintendo Wii U after a long delay from its initial release on other consoles. From what we have seen online so far, it doesn’t actually look too bad… however, it seems to lack a certain feature. The ability to post screenshots to Miiverse.

According to users on Miiverse, the game doesn’t allow you to attach screenshots from the game in Miiverse posts, you can’t even upload them to the Nintnedo Image Sharing website using the Internet browser.

There is currently no word from Ubisoft on why they have disabled this feature, but we will update you all if there is.

Have you played Watch Dogs for Wii U? If so, what do you think of it? Tell us in the comments below!

SmashShot of the Day (25th July 2014)

For the past year, Smash Bros. Director, Masahiro Sakurai, has been showing off Smash Bros. glory by uploading a screenshot from the upcoming instalments for 3DS and Wii U nearly every day on Miiverse… that’s a whole lot of content for your eyeballs! Today host to a very exciting phot [for me anyway]. It’s not actually gameplay, but still a screenshot!

And here’s what Sakurai had to say…

For the first time ever, I present to you…the main menu for the 3DS version!! The icons are even animated. The design concept may look similar if you’ve played other games I’ve worked on. But we had a hard time making this one because…

This is exciting because this is the very first time we get to see the final UI [that’s User Interface for those who are not as tech davy] for the main menu to the 3DS version! As you can see it looks very familiar to Brawl’s UI as well as Kid Icarus Uprising’s, both games were developed by Sakurai. One interesting point is the Wii U icon at the bottom. This most likely directs you to the cross-play type features. It seems that the Challenges mode from Brawl and KI:U will be making a return. This mode allows you to win prizes such as trophies, soundtrack CDs etc. for meeting certain conditions such as playing as a certain character 50 times. Sakurai also mentions that this UI was particularly hard to create…

The bottom screen displays pictures matching each mode! This was quite a task for the UI (User Interface) designers, but they made it happen. Kudos to them! You can tap the screen to look up additional info like how to play–complete with diagrams.

Obviously the UI is much more advance that those used in Brawl and KI:U, as you can display submenus on the bottom screen such as ‘How to play’ diagrams and Power Stats!

Super Smash Bros. is set to be released for 3DS on the 13th September 2014 in Japan, 3rd October 2014 in Europe and North America, and a day later in Australia. The Wii U version is set to be released during Q4 2014.

SmashShot of the Day (22nd July 2014)

For the past year, Smash Bros. Director, Masahiro Sakurai, has been showing off Smash Bros. glory by uploading a screenshot from the upcoming instalments for 3DS and Wii U nearly every day on Miiverse… that’s a whole lot of content for your eyeballs! Today we’ll be looking in the far reaches of outer space!

zlCfzSMmCz0KVzqbOq

It wouldn’t be a SmashShot without Sakurai’s comment now, would it…

Here’s the Great Fox from Star Fox: Assault. I wonder what missions it will conduct. It’ll probably have fighters running around on top of it without the pilot’s consent.

Here we see the return of the mighty Great Fox from Star Fox: Assault. Could this be a new stage announcement for Smash Bros.? If so then I think that when Sakurai said “I wonder what missions it will conduct” could mean it is one of those stages where the environment changes, similar to the Skyloft and Delfino Plaza stages.

SmashShot of the Day (18th/21st July 2014)

I apologise for the delay for the SmashShot, been very busy of late!

For the past year, Smash Bros. Director, Masahiro Sakurai, has been showing off Smash Bros. glory by uploading a screenshot from the upcoming instalments for 3DS and Wii U nearly every day on Miiverse… that’s a whole lot of content for your eyeballs! Let’s start with Friday’s… which was a bit of a K.O. if you ask me!

zlCfzSLe-W0euMfryu

And of course, here’s what Sakurai had to say…

Here’s a Screen K.O. shot. There are also patterns where players will disappear into the sky for Star K.O.s, but as a match’s time limit approaches, those K.O.s will not occur anymore.

We all know those comical K.O. scenes, when one of the characters bashes into the screen before falling in battle. It seems these scenes will be even more comical as the characters’ faces will flatten like when a face hits a strong window. The scenes where the character will fly off into the distance will also return.

And here is today’s SmashShot which show how much of a leech Robin really is…

zlCfzSMS8nIcvPUP3Z

Robin’s Nosferatu is the first ability in the Smash Bros. series that recovers your damage as it gives damage to others. The attack becomes even stronger if you strike from behind! Robin doesn’t actually use this ability in the original game, but we added that element to make the character unique. Who knows–the ideas we use in this game may contribute to the original series.

It seems that the surname Nosferatu is a very suiting for Robin as one of his unique abilities allow him to leech power from your opponents, like how a vampire sucks blood from its victim. Sakurai also mentions that though the ability does not appear within the Fire Emblem games, it could very well make an appearance in a future title. In fact, ay franchise could technically gain inspiration from Smash Bros.!

Super Smash Bros. is set to be released for 3DS on the 13th September 2014 in Japan, 3rd October 2014 in Europe and North America, and a day later in Australia. The Wii U version is set to be released during Q4 2014.
