We are halfway there! Halfway through the final week before Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launches on Nintendo Switch. There are already so many characters to fight in Ultimate, but Nintendo did announce that there will be more to come in the form of DLC.

In today’s countdown to smash, we’ll list four characters we’d like to see in future DLC. Check it out, after the break!

Banjo-Kazooie

This bear and bird duo is an absolute legend, and probably has quite a high chance of making the roster. Phil Spencer himself even said that he would love to see the duo in Smash… multiple times. Who knows, maybe they could be announced at The Game Awards on Thursday.

What sort of moves would they have though? Their standard attack could simply be Banjo’s Claw Swipe, the tilt attack could be his roll, and the aerial attack being the Rat-a-tat Rap. The aerial down attack could be a beak buster or, if charged, Bill Drill (this could be more powerful and send a little shockwave). Their chargeable smash attack could be the breegull blast (think of Banjo using Kazooie as a hammer). The side special can be a beak barge, down special could be egg laying (charging it up could produce a grenade egg instead of a regular one), and an up special could be the Flap Flip. Finally, their final smash could get the Jinjonator from the final battle against Gruntilda in Banjo-Kazooie to smash nearby opponents out of the ring.

As for the stage, I was thinking a nice recreation of Click Clock Woods’ giant tree would be neat. It would be pretty cool to have the stage change between the four different seasons. Spring could be host a giant beanstalk on the side. The Zubba’s can be in full force in Summer. Fall could offer some leafy shelter, and buh-bye beanstalk. Winter could make things a bit slippery. Oh, also who wouldn’t love to smash to the Click Clock Woods music?

Crash Bandicoot

This fuzzy maniac hasn’t been on a Nintendo console, but has gone down a treat on Nintendo Switch in the N. Sane Trilogy. Seems like the perfect opportunity to bring him into the Smash-verse.

And his moves, you ask? It’s actually been a while since I played Crash games, but the standard and tilts could be simple melee attacks like in Crash of the Titans. Regular smash attack could be his spin, and side smash his slide attack. His recovery could be similar to Sonic’s, but instead of throwing a spring below, it’s a bouncy crate. His final smash could be Mecha Bandicoot from Crash Twinsanity, fully equipped with deadly missiles.

Stage-wise, he could have N. Sanity Island. Similar to Island Delfino, this stage would take a massive tour of the different locales of N. Sanity Island. Writing this really wants me to get the N. Sane Trilogy now… Oh, wouldn’t it also be hilarious to battle with the N. Sanity Island theme from Twinsanity playing in the background?

Rayman

This limbless hero is just the right amount of zaniness to make it into the Smashverse. Definitely helps his case with that very convincing fake leak a few years ago.

Obviously his detached paws(?) would be the main event of his moveset. His standard attacks could simply be regular jabs. His smash attack would let him throw his fists… literally. Charging the smash attack would let Rayman throw the attack at a higher velocity, you could even hold and aim. A side smash steals a move from Hoodlum Havoc with the Vortex Fist, think of Link’s Gale Boomerang. His recovery may be a simple upward punch, simple yet effective. A down smash could make him pluck a turnip and use it as a kickable projectile. As for his final smash, I’d like to name it Globox’s Plum Juice. Rayman will pull out a barrel of plum juice, attracting Andre the black Lum to force Globox to dash towards it for an explosive reaction!

Rayman’s stage could be based off of the Fiesta de los Muertos world in Rayman Legends, I’d call it Snakes and Cakes. The entire level could be made of vanilla cake, with some spots of chocolate cake. Snakes could eat through random parts of cake, creating brand new platforms to fight on. Be careful though, chocolate cake will always have spikes around it… oh, also this cake regenerates itself after while. I really want this cake!

Lanky Kong

He has no style, he has no grace, this kong, has a funny face. He can handstand, when he needs to, and he can be in Smash, just for you. I’ll stop the DK Rap rip-off rhyming as I’m too lazy for that. All that aside, I feel that Lanky would be a very interesting addition to the Smash roster with his stretchy limbs, grape gun, and sexy trombone!

He may have no style, but his moveset sure does. His standard attacks will be a stretchy punch, you could even combo these together. Right arm, left arm, both arms! His smash could be OrangStand Sprint, which can be charged for higher damage and longevity. Lanky’s side smash could let him slap his arms together, like he’s making a painful idiot sandwich. His recover would let him swing his arms around him like a swing, giving him more air. Additionally, this could smash someone underneath down to the ground… perfect to KO someone trying get back onto a platform.

His down smash will get out his Grape Shooter, letting him shoot some rather sharp grapes. He’ll only have a stock of 25, which will slowly regenerate when the shooter is away. Additionally, though the grapes do a decent amount of damage, he is very limited to what additional attacks he can do with it out. Finally, his final smash would be Trombone Tremor. He’ll play his tune from Donkey Kong 64 which temporarily stuns everyone in range.

What’s a better stage for Lanky than the world he first appeared in, Angry Aztec. This stage could be very similar to Luigi’s Mansion, but mainly set in front of the five door temple from Angry Aztec. You could also have the big totem pole situated to the left… which can be destroyed! Just be sure to watch out for the scorching sand to the side, as well as any sand storms.

What do you think of these characters? Have any others you’d like to see? Tell us in the comments below, and don’t forget to come back tomorrow for the continuation of Countdown to Smash!

Leon Fletcher

I am a huge Nintendo fan, hence why NintyBuzz exists. I especially love all things Zelda and Metroid. NintyBuzz was started by me back in the Summer of 2014, it started out mainly as a hobby, though the site has gradually grown, and I hope it grows for many years to come!
