Starting September 2018, after a couple delays, Nintendo will finally enable the Nintendo Switch Online service which aims to provide a ‘feature rich’ and ‘affordable’ online service for the Nintendo Switch console. Nintendo has today announced some of the details which we can expect come September.

Firstly, the service will be much cheaper then its competitors (PS Plus and XBOX Live). Entry level membership for one month will cost €3.99/£3.49 (which is about the same price of Dominos’ Potato Wedges), three months will set you back €7.99/£6.99 (the price of a scrumptious waffle from Creams), and twelve months will be valued at €19.99/£17.99.

If you have family members which also want to use Nintendo Switch Online services on their own account, you can get a Family account for €34.99/£31.49 per year. This will allow you to use Nintendo Switch Online on up to eight connected Nintendo Switch accounts, even on different consoles.

Nintendo Switch Online members will also have access to an expanding library of NES games for free which have been updated to use online features, such as multiplayer and leaderboards. The collection will initially include 20 games, and more will be added on a regular basis.

At launch, previously announced games Balloon Fight, Dr. Mario and Super Mario Bros. 3 will be joined by Donkey Kong, Ice Climber, The Legend of Zelda, Mario Bros., Soccer, Super Mario Bros., Tennis and 10 others that will be announced in the future. The feature will also allow voice chat with the Nintendo Switch Online smartphone app, and will even allow players to watch their friends play single player online.

Most Nintendo Switch games will also allow you to save game data on the cloud with a Nintendo Switch Online membership. Never again fear about loosing or breaking your switch and loosing your precious save data, cloud saves are here.

I am a huge Nintendo fan, hence why NintyBuzz exists. I especially love all things Zelda and Metroid. NintyBuzz was started by me back in the Summer of 2014, it started out mainly as a hobby, though the site has gradually grown, and I hope it grows for many years to come!
