The music of Nintendo games make them truly remarkable and memorable. To show our love of the music, every Friday we share a selection of tracks from various Nintendo titles, new and old.

Three of the catchiest pieces in video game history feature in this week’s NintyBeats, from Nintendo’s “Entertainment System” days.

The series has changed a lot since Super Mario Kart, but even the original game has the same feel. I can’t listen to this without thinking of Mario Kart 8’s exceptional rendition any more, but this chirpier version sounds even better with my mental accompaniment!

This is one of the catchiest and most adventurous themes in video game history. I’ve barely played Castlevania, but I’m a fan of its music.

I don’t think I ever got past the area where this music plays, so I’ve heard this music a lot — and somehow I still like it. I think that’s a virtue of NES music — there’s something about a well-composed chiptune track that you never get sick of.

So that wraps up another week’s NintyBeats! I hope you enjoyed the choices this time.

If you would like to have a certain piece featured next week, please post it in the comments!
