The music of Nintendo games make them truly remarkable and memorable. To show our love of the music, every Friday we share a selection of tracks from various Nintendo titles, new and old.

From serene underwater shipwrecks to underground jungles, this week we feature atmospheric music from three of our favourite nineties Nintendo locales.

In the green, overgrown area of Brinstar, Samus’s adventure has only just begun. The game is full of secrets and obscurities, but they are the predominant way to advance; Super Metroid opens up when the player arrives in the jungle.

It was kicked out of the Pokémon games after Generation IV, but the absence of the humble Game Corner is noticable in the games and in the soundtrack. Little details such as these used to make the land feel alive, and alack, the Pokémon world is so much less magical now. The next entry can take as long as it likes if it brings back details such as these.

For some reason it’s called Dire Dire Docks, but this piece paints a big ol’ Jolly Roger Bay painting in my mind. Jolly Roger Bay has a desolate and tranquil ambience. If you’re looking for a beautiful and calming place to relax, jump into this painting!

So that wraps up another week’s NintyBeats! I hope you enjoyed the choices this time.

If you would like to have a certain piece featured next week, please post it in the comments!
