Fresh from its conquest of Japan, Puzzle & Dragons is heading to western 3DS consoles. It will be released in the form of a special bundle featuring both the original game (which features dragons, funnily enough) and the newly announced Mario edition.

Puzzle & Dragons is already out in the west as a free to play game on smart devices and is described as a puzzle game with RPG and strategy elements. However, the 3DS editions build on the phone and tablet version by adding an explorable world to make a more complete game – and of course it also doesn’t feature any of those pesky in app purchases.

The games will be available in May as a bundle at retail and in the eShop, but there’s no word on pricing – or whether the games will be available individually – yet. Do you think these games have what it takes to replicate their Japanese success over here?
