With Majora’s Mask 3D’s release date slowly coming into sight, Nintendo have taken this opportunity to reveal a couple of new details about what game should improve on from the original.

They have recently talked briefly about the Bomber’s Notebook, the handy little guide to note down your progress in side-quests, with GameMaster Magazine, and how this has been updated for the Nintendo 3DS. It has also been ‘leaked’ on Amazon Germany that the title may add convenient ‘feather statues’ to join the owl statues, which acted as save points.

Check out more details after the break!

When talking with GameMaster, Eiji Aonuma stated that Shigeru Miyamoto suggested for the notebook to be revised to make hidden events a bit more noticeable.

We were told by Mr. Miyamoto that he felt there were a lot of users who finished the original without even noticing all the hidden events scattered around the town. He said that he wanted us to make sure users were more aware of them this time around.

Personally, I find that the fact that the hidden events aren’t that visible adds to the charm of the game. It really encourages you to explore everything the Land of Termina has to offer. I think they need to be careful with this, and I hope that it only means small hints. If there is too much information about the events before you complete them, it takes away exploration a bit.

He then goes on to talk about how the updated notebook takes advantage of the dual-screen nature of the 3DS. He has mentioned that it has been redone ‘to act more like an electronic notebook that leads players to these hidden events’. Definitely like the sound of this. I assume that this will be similar to how they improved item switching on Ocarina of Time 3D where you can switch items with a couple taps on the touch screen. In the original Majora’s Mask, you would have to pause the game, switch to the Quest Items Sub-Screen then choose the notebook to open it, but the 3D remake could mean that all you have to do is to just tap the notebook on the touch screen.

Finally, Aonuma talked about the benefits of bringing Majora’s Mask to a portable device.

When the game was launched, I believed that the real purpose was for players to overcome this pressure and experience a sense of achievement. On a portable console, users don’t have to choose when or where they play, they can keep on playing the game whenever they want. I think this should allow all users to enjoy that special sense of achievement.

I would definitely agree with this statement. With Majora’s Mask, it felt that you couldn’t have a small play time that often as you would have to save at certain areas and you definitely couldn’t lug around a TV with you, whereas with the 3DS, you could easily suspend the game and then carry off from the exact same spot at a later hour or date.

Now let us briefly talk about what was mentioned on the Amazon Germany listing for Majora’s Mask 3D. According to the listing, there will be new statues called Feather Statues to join the usual Owl Statues. Apparently these are supposed to add more flexibility to saving your game.

With the help of owl statues and the new feather statues, which can be found all over Termina, you can now save your adventure anytime you like

This could mean there will be more statues around Termina for more opportunity to save your game, unfortunately we don’t know any more than that.

What do you think of these details? What else do you think needs to be updated in Majora’s Mask 3D? Tell us in the comments below!

Majora’s Mask 3D will be released during Spring 2015.

I am a huge Nintendo fan, hence why NintyBuzz exists. I especially love all things Zelda and Metroid. NintyBuzz was started by me back in the Summer of 2014, it started out mainly as a hobby, though the site has gradually grown, and I hope it grows for many years to come!
