A while back, before Super Smash Bros. for Wii U was released, Nintendo announced that they will treating customers who purchase both the 3DS and Wii U versions of Smash with a special soundtrack and Mewtwo DLC pack. All you need to do is to link both versions to your Club Nintendo account before the deadline and you are eligible for the promotion.

However, those of you who have purchased/will purchase the game digitally, there is a slight risk involved. According to a Nintendo Customer Service Representative, you have to register the game within five days of purchase if you are getting digital copies, you also have to link your consoles to Club Nintendo prior to registering the game. If you fail to meet these requirements, then you are unable to participate in the promotion, meaning you will not reap the glorious Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS soundtrack or the free Mewtwo DLC Pack… BOO!!!

Jigglypuff missed her chance in the promotion 🙁

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue with registering your downloaded Super Smash Bros. for 3DS game.

In order to register a game downloaded from the Nintendo eShop your console needs to have been linked to Club Nintendo either prior or within 5 days of downloading the game. If this is not done then the game will not be valid for the promotion.

Please note that this system does not work retroactively, this means if you have not registered the console with 5 days of the game purchase then you are not able to register the game. We are also unable to manually add any purchases made before linking the console.

Have you purchased Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS? Are you planning on participating in the promotion? Tell us in the comments below! Also, if you are undecided on whether to get Smash yet, be sure to read our review here!

I am a huge Nintendo fan, hence why NintyBuzz exists. I especially love all things Zelda and Metroid. NintyBuzz was started by me back in the Summer of 2014, it started out mainly as a hobby, though the site has gradually grown, and I hope it grows for many years to come!
