Although localisation has come on leaps and bounds in the last decade, one game that hasn’t made it across asia to western shores is Wii/Wii U exclusive Dragon Quest X. However, that could change with the latest tidbit of news – it’s being ported to 3DS!

Only confirmed for Japan at the moment, the subscription based MMO port seems to retain the Wii U control system, with 3DS’ the touchscreen providing ZL, ZR and right analogue stick controls along with a keyboard so you can keep your fellow questers updated.

It also seems that graphics aren’t going to take as big a hit as they might compared to the existing releases for Wii, Wii U and Windows – the intrinsic need for a wi-fi connection is set to allow some processing to take place in the cloud.

The good news is that the 3DS has a significantly larger installbase than Wii U, so that has to up the chances of localisation. Of course we said that about Dragon Quest VII… Please?

Excited? I am.
