As a huge Zelda fanatic, I swoon at the mention of new information about a Zelda game, even if it is a spin-off. This is no exception, sure there isn’t really a whole lot of new info on the Temco-Koei/Nintendo collaborative title, Hyrule Warriors, but a new trailer is a new trailer and that’s enough to get excited for.

This time Zelda is portrayed as a bad-ass, takes no orders princess who knows how to kick some Poe. The trailer starts with Zelda gracefully floating down into the volcanic-looking area and then phases in her sleek sword ready to fight anything that gets in her way. And fights she does as she is instantly pitted against armies of the undead; Stalchildren, Stalfos and Poes galore! With the power of light and the Triforce, Zelda is truly an unstoppable deity.

But that’s not all! In a recent interview between MMGN and Hyrule Warriors producers, we found out that Zelda has a much stronger role in the game.

MMGN: Can you tell me about the relationship between Link and Zelda in Hyrule Warriors?

Mr. Hayashi: In Hyrule Warriors Princess Zelda is actually Queen Zelda. She has an army, as a Queen would, and Link is a trainee, but as the story unfolds the relationship between the two greatly changes.

So it seems as if Zelda is no longer a princess within Hyrule Warriors, but in fact… a queen with the Hyrule army at her disposal.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you like the idea of Zelda portraying a stronger role?

Hyrule Warriors is set to release on August 14th in Japan, September 19th in Europe, September 20th in Australia and September 26th in North America!

I am a huge Nintendo fan, hence why NintyBuzz exists. I especially love all things Zelda and Metroid. NintyBuzz was started by me back in the Summer of 2014, it started out mainly as a hobby, though the site has gradually grown, and I hope it grows for many years to come!
