Metroid 30th Anniversary – A Retrospect

30 years ago today, Samus Aran set off on her first adventure on the NES, where she explores the depths of Zebes to stop the Space Pirates from exploiting Metroid lifeforms for their own devious agenda. Since then, she has been an influential game character due to the representation of her gender. She is independent, strong, and a badass bounty hunter who has even wiped out entire species and destroyed planets!

To celebrate 30 years of the series, I produced this little retrospect video which showcases some of her best moments over three decade run of the series. Let’s hope it doesn’t end there and there are many more years to come. Enjoy!

Shout out your favourite Metroid moments in the comments below! (Please make comments via the article thread on the forum as we are experiencing some technical difficulties regarding commenting)

I am a huge Nintendo fan, hence why NintyBuzz exists. I especially love all things Zelda and Metroid. NintyBuzz was started by me back in the Summer of 2014, it started out mainly as a hobby, though the site has gradually grown, and I hope it grows for many years to come!

Metroid Prime: Blast Ball Demo Blasts onto eShop

Blast into a futurised game of football (or soccer for our American friends) in the Metroid Prime: Blast Ball Demo. Compete in teams of three, and use gigantic mechs to blast the ball into the opposing team’s goal. Teamwork is key if you want to succeed. Defend your goal, fend off your enemies, and blast that ball!

The Blast Ball demo went live on the eShop unexpectedly this past Thursday, and can be downloaded from the eShop for free right now. The demo comes packed with single player, local multiplayer, download play, and online multiplayer modes. You can also customise your mech with different designs and colours. If you tap a supported Amiibo, you may unlock a special design based on that character too! This is the perfect chance to become adjusted to the controls before Federation Force launches next month.

Metroid Prime: Federation Force releases exclusively for Nintendo 3DS Family Systems on the 19th August 2016 in North America, and the 2nd September 2016 in Europe! Check out the latest trailer after the break, or click here to find out more!

OPINION: What we want from Nintendo NX

As it stands, we are completely in the dark about the NX other than it comes out next Spring and it will include Zelda Wii U in the launch line-up. Seeing how the console is planned to debut in just over ten months, a lot of gamers are growing concerned with exactly what the NX is, or if Nintendo will be able to recover from the commercial failure of the Wii U (which is still a brilliant console). How powerful is it? Is it a hybrid? Will it use cartridges? We are all clueless!

Today, I’ve compiled a list of features and ‘things’ which I believe could make the NX a success, as well as some personal desires, think of it as a NX wish list. Check them out, after the break!

NintyBuzz @ EGX 2015: The Writeup

About two weeks ago, I attended EGX 2015 at the NEC Birmingham, the biggest UK gaming event of the year. The venue was packed with games, gamers, and miscellaneous (I think I may have spotted a Deku Scrub in the crowd).

Check out our write-up of the even (as experienced on the Sunday) after the break!
