Nintendo may arrange free wifi hotspots for nintendo 3ds
Nintendo recently announced the “StreetPass” feature shipped
with it’s upcoming 3DS handheld system that allows users to
download data from the net without playing a casino game.
Whilst it means big ideas for developers, Nintendo have
mentioned inside the recent Investor Q&A that international
gamers have been at any slight disadvantage simply because
    deficiency of WiFi hotspots.
Nintendo had originally looked into incorporating a 3G sim-card
system, not unlike the iPad but decided users won’t pay a
monthly premium. While SpotPass is avalible via home networks,
Nintendo have scored partnership is to do with WiFi companies in
Japan to install “Nintendo Zones” the spot that the 3DS will be able
to connect freely and instantly on the wireless service.
Nintendo prefer to have 2000 of these free WiFi zones set up in
Japan by March 2011, even rolling them off to McDonalds stores.
Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata revealed that the firm is eager to
    introduce such zones in the us alone and across Europe;
“ We must be capable of offer clear-cut factors that cause the
overseas users for being able to carry around Nintendo 3DS as
soon as depart. Although searching for not arrive at a conclusion
on whether we've got to explore the opportunity of
manufacturers like Nintendo Zone or r4 card, like our
collaborations with NTT East and NTT West, should have to cope
with the entities who are offering free Wi-Fi access points, we will
be desirous to proactively expand the access points with the
Intention that an increasing number of people on the U.S. and
Europe can also feel it's fun to include around a transportable
gaming device wherever they're going out. ”
Nintendo says that such functionality can deliver users that has a
“ new experience every day”. Content delivered by SpotPass will
include r4 ds, 3D videos, Nintendo DS R4, free game demos,

I think this will only be in Japan because Nintendo rarely does these kinds of things to places other outside their main country- Japan.

I think Japan is particularly suited because of a lot of the populace living in dense urban centres. It wouldn't work quite as well in the UK, even worse in Australia, say.

We can hope all we want, but unless Nintendo specifically announces this for NA and EU, its probably not going to happen.

I agree with that completely! I hope they will do it in N.A., though! How am I ever going to pass time until the 3DS comes out?
