I think most of us here have made up our minds that we're getting a 3DS but what would Sony (or Microsoft) have to do to get us to buy their portable products. Or is the idea just out of the question?

Nothing Tbh, they make awesome home consoles, but handhelds then don't.

They have to make a better UI on the system as well as not having a glossy screen that just attracts scratches and dust.

Also better buttons and accelerometer and gyroscope for more interesting gameplay. Better speakers for improved sound, cartridge based so you don't have these silly UMD's

    and FUN GAMES.

I like the PSP, especially those Japanese Imports I have and the RPG's, but the problem is its too fiddly as a system.

I will be buying both, but the 3DS will be my main device, replacing my iPhone as a music and video player and laptop as a portable internet device (hopefully it has a browser!)

~800x454 Super AMOLED screen, 3G internet connection and lot of good games. Full 3D view without glasses would be also good advantage :) That would be perfect gadget for me. Even if it isn't very possible to make a handheld like I mentioned :D But I still think Sony will make superior handheld. And I would like to own both - 3DS and PSP2.

I don't actually care that much about graphics or technical features in the 3DS. I just care that it's a Nintendo device, and that it's gonna have all the characters and franchises I know and love on it. Mario, Zelda, Metroid (I hope)...it's kinda hard to find that kind of charm and FUN in the competition, if you ask me. That's why I'm probably gonna be with Nintendo until the end of time! So yeah, the PSP2 is probably out of the question for me, especially since I'm on a very limited budget.

The reason I ask is that I've joined PlayStation Plus (4 free games a month and extra stuff for £40 per year, great deal if you ask me), and a lot of the games you can transfer to play on a PSP. It made me kind of want one. I don't have enough time for the games I already have though so there's not much point really.

4 free games a month for 40 pounds a year?! I didn't know that was part of the deal!
Okay, yes, I want a PSP now, too, but it will never replace my DS/3DS as my primary handheld. I'm gonna need a PS3 first, though...

Hehe, I know exactly where you're coming from, Adam. I've got to post a pic of my Wii game collection on here sometime. I can assure you that only a very small part of the games you'll see have been completed. :p

I would need to have a full joystick and a full version of Gran Turismo. Also, 3g and an HD screen would be nice.

microsoft probaly wont be making handheld consoldes. and stick to xbox. why? xbox is always having new things and nintendo r being abit late with the new wii and 3ds but good games takes time

i do love ps3 but i wouldnt have a handseld psp. i think sony should stick to consoles and leave nintendo to its hand held as they are more specialised in it. and mic should never tihnk of having handhelds or else xbox will start to go abit late and then xbox will go s***. i cant wait for ps4 next year. its going be a ball with a this touch glass :p saw it on msn today.

Errm sorry to burst your bubble but that image they showed was just some fan concept. It would never happen and would never be particle.

Your talking about this concept right?
Yup just a fan concept ;)

The looks of a console don't really matter, as long as its powerful, innovative, quite and has great games, thats what matters.

Also the PS4 wont be out until 2014, Sony promised a 10 year life cycle. The PS3 came out in
2006, 2014-2016 will be when the next PlayStation will be released.

    Iwata said, as follow
So the next Wii will be coming in around 3 years.

The 360 on the other hand has been out for nearly 5 years, Kinect will also prolong the life of the device, so I say the Xbox will be here around 2013-2014.

You want to leave the Nintendo with no rivals in the market? I think completely different. As more choices we will have as better for us. I know 3DS looks perfect, but rivalry is still necessary in market.

Besides, kallumsmarties, have you heard about points in the end of sentence? It's really hard to read what you wrote. No offence, just saying. I know my English gramar isn't good too, but I'm trying to write as good as I can :)

Nintendo for most people is about software, not hardware. Now the hardware is great I think it would take a miracle for anyone to beat it.

3DS's hardware now is really strong, but Wii's hardware is quite weak if we would look at its rivals X360 and PS3. Isn't it?

To sway me, they'd need to put Metroid, Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Super Smash Bros., glassless 3D, retina display graphics, Donkey Kong 64, eye quality cameras on the front and back, dual screens, two touch screens, ear quality speakers, 3D sound, music support, the ability to play songs while playing games, precise augmented reality controls, motion controls that you can use without breaking the 3D, fun games, and compatibility with N64 games. In other words, I couldn't be swayed to the PSP2!

The reason I won't be buying one is the price. I might get one after a couple of years if it's price has been reduced and there are some games I really want on it.

PSP had such a poor start when it first released in '05. Though nowadays there are tons of great games on it, especially exclusives. This is why i will wait to buy the NGP, when it has a lot of good games.

If they re-released Final Fantasy VII on it instead of the PS3 (if they ever decided to)

I would really have no choice but to buy it then. >_<

The key reason I'm not getting the PSP2 is because of money, which I lack. Seeing how expensive the PS3 was at launch ("five-hundred and ninety nine US dollars", to quote the guy at E3), I see an expensive handheld coming soon!

Well, to make me get a PSP2... Either give me one for free, or gimme a load of money.
But if the PSP2 wasn't... like it is... uhhh... like... uhhh... like the screen is where all the buttons are... kinda... I would prefer it if it was like the GBASP, just wider.

The only thing that would cause me to think about getting a psp2 would be an external UMD drive.
I did own the psp-1000 and psp-3000 and I would like to play all of my old games as well as the new.
I do own a 3ds though so don't think that I'm just gonna dog nintendo =P

I do not know if this is part of the agreement! Well, yes, I would like to PSP, and also it will never replace my main hand I DS/3DS. I need a PS3 first, though ...

I would gladly have a psp2, except I would not gladly pay for it.
The PSP2 would just mean a wider variety of games, but between the two I choose the 3ds because it has the first party nintendo titles.

Fun games I wanted to play (had a psp and thought it was rubbish) And also a cheap price, but I cant see the NGP being lower than £250 in the UK

Nothing, Ill get one preordered as soon as possible.

The PSP has had some of the best games of this generation. The Monster Hunter series, FF Tactics, FF Advent Core, FF Dissidia - hell, pretty much any of the Square Enix games. MGS Peace Walker, DJ MAX Portable, stacks of great rpgs and turn based strategy games.... Nay say all you like, but the PSP has had enough great games to warrant a purchase, and the NGP will have just as many.

The biggest selling point ofr me (other than a handheld Uncharted!), is that finally we will be able to play fps on a handheld. And not graphically crippled, poorly controlled efforts either. The DS / 3DS will never be able to handle a handheld fps which can hold a candle to its console / PC brothers, and the main reason for this is the controls.

Thats my two pennorth anyway. I usually get all the major console releases, and apart from the odd one (Jaguar and CDi, Im looking at you) they have all had enough great games to justify themselves.

For me to get a PSP2 would require there to be ALOT of awesome games, not just a few. There would need to be games like Bioshock, Mass Effect, Gears of War, Final Fantasy, God of War etc.

I didn't get a PS3 or the original PSP, and don't intend to so it would take alot for me to think about getting this when I've got the 3DS and expecting alot of great games for it aswell. Though if I was rich, no doubt i would :p
