    With the announcement of the
    Playstation Phone there’s been a
    resurgence in discussion in regards
to the Nintendo 3DS competing with
smart phones. And yes, while smart
phones are not gaming devices they
    steal attention, and seeing as
    Nintendo are in the attention
business, that does matter. But don’t
worry, we aren’t going to be seeing
    a Nintendo phone anytime soon
(which is a relief because I ’d fear
that Nintendo wouldn’t allow us to
use contact lists or call anyone we
    haven ’t mutually exchanged
numbers with). In an interview with
Forbes Reggie Fils-Aime has said that
    Nintendo “adding more and more
elements to fill out the experience
and take away more and more time
    from competing devices. ” That’s
great, but I still want to know: when
will I get 3G connectivity in my
Nintendo handheld? It ’s what I
crave.. But do you think Nintendo might be covering up it and will 'surprise' us with a 3d phone that is better than the playstation phone?

Nintendo's systems have always put gaming first and foremost. I'm afraid that if they make a phone, gaming will still be the focus and it will end up sucking as a phone, no matter how epic it is for gaming. And I'm quite sure Nintendo's aware of this, too; they're a gaming company, after all, not a general consumer electronics manufacturer.

On the other hand, people are really believing the lies Apple is spreading about the iPhone being a gaming phone. If that goes on much longer, and especially if Apple jams in a 3D screen, Nintendo might have no choice...

Look at microsoft. They have released phones, pc, laptops, email account, x box but they have not yet released a portable gaming console. Nintendo are the opposite. They have a portable gaming console and a wii. The only same thing is the console for home

I don't think they will release a phone, since. . .well, have they made anything besides handhelds and home consoles since they decided to put the career in gaming? That was about 100 years ago, and they still haven't made anything besides gaming devices. They may in a really long time from now, but I don't see them doing it any time soon! I like Apple, but it irks me that everything that they send out, they mark it as "revolutionary", "cutting-edge" or some other lie, such as this ad for the iPad, although it's just a giant iPod touch. But I do want a laptop from them, or an iPod Touch.

I voted that they never will, because I think they aren't going to change their way while Nintendo products are so succesful.

like everybody else is saying, Nintendo is a gaming company. Phones just dont have the capabilities of gaming. take the iphone for example, your playing games on it but your thumb is in the way and you can't see the screen, theres little virtual buttons that do there command when you dont want to,you get a call or a text in the middle of your game, all kinds of mishaps could happen.
    Nintendo, stick to gaming!

I utterly agree with homer fanboy; Nintendo and phones? I don't think there's a chance of that happening, at least in the near future. . . .
