I expect downloadable games will play a bigger part on the 3DS. What do you think it will have Dannyboy?

I also expect downloadable games such as a 3ds shop or something but I also expect other things. here is a link to five features I want to see on a blog I wrote on IGN http://blogs.ign.com/Masterhandrocks123/ just to save time listing them all again

    @Danny: You can always copy-and-paste, y'know? Anywho, that's a nice list you've got there.

I'm expecting a 3DS Shop, too; hopefully, it will be snappier, more attractive, and easier to get your games into than the current DSiWare Shop.

But besides that, I'm quite hopeful for game installations, MP3 support (in the obligatory music player; I mean, come on. Supporting AAC exclusively is bullcrap), some kind of multitasking support (that home button; I'm hoping it will grant us access to a system-wide chat feature, will be an online portal, and will allow us to play our own music while gaming or doing other things on the 3DS), and a 3G connection (though that's very, very unlikely at this point).

It should have social access apps to facebook, myspace, twitter and bebo. It should let you upload 3d videos straight to them sites. Anyone agree?

3D video recording is still nothing more than a rumour, but that would be really cool if it was possible to upload such vids to Facebook and co. Problem is, to my knowledge, Youtube is the only site in the world that supports 3D videos; Facebook would need to do a lot to get 3D video working on their site...

Social networking integration's a great idea, though. Perhaps it will even be integrated with games somehow.

    3DS internet functions

It can make 3D photos for sure, I saw that in the E3 presentation. But I'm wondering about the internet on 3DS. I would like a cool browser (not sponsored by Opera:p)
with special functions for Twitter and Facebook.

    ;)

The browser on the Wii and DSi isn't sponsored by Opera; it's made by them. I wouldn't say no to a switch to Chrome or Firefox, though.

Special Facebook and Twitter functionality is unlikely to come as part of the browser, though; they will either get their own standalone apps, be integrated into some kind of system-wide menu, or will rely on special mobile versions of the sites built specifically for the 3DS (oooh, Facebook and Twitter in 3D! Imagine seeing your friends' walls floating around! :p).

Well it will have the slide pad for 360 degree control. 3.53 inch top screen with a resolution of 800x240 and a 3.0 inch touch screen with a telescopic stylus. Accelerometer and gyroscope as well as 3D camera for pictures and video capture as well as a inside 2D camera (both at VGA resolution) with facial recognition. A DMP Pica200 GPU for improved graphics. A mic, headphone jack, online gameplay as well as backward compatibility with DS and DSi games, 3D slider and 3D movies and some more...

It strange that cameras on 3DS are just 0.3 magapixels, technology like this is really old, don't you think so? I know it's not a photo camera it's handheld gaming console, but if they put a feature to a gadget, so don't put a crapy one. Nowadays even 2 magapixels are not much. And even new cheap-enough mobile phones has 3 or 5 megapixels.

You'd think they could rack the megapixels up a little more. My cheap-o cell phone (Nokia 3500; look it up) even has 2, and our new digital camera (which was under $300 CAD, might I add) has a whopping 14.1! Surely the technology can't be that expensive, especially when Nintendo went so far as to invest so heavily in the parallax barrier technology.

It's 0.3 MP so when the next iteration comes along they can improve it to 1MP!

I would expect Nintendo to release movies on cartridges at first since they are 2GB in size at launch.

Maybe online later? I hope its like the PSP in the respect that they allow you do put your own music, picture and games on the SD card via drag and drop

There is if homebrew takes off or if the 3DS turns out to be an open platform like Android.

I agree with Qaiz; we should be allowed to put our own music and videos on it rather than being limited to Nintendo's own store.

Good point :) Unfortunately Nintendo have never been open to the idea of unlicensed software on their systems so homebrew probably won't take off.

Hopefully they will be more open to what music we play on it at least.

What do you all think of force feedback or rumble or whatever they call it these day. I never notice it in controllers but some seem to make a big deal about it.

I like the idea of the multi-directional pad, and the idea that it's got 3d gaming. I also like the fact you can turn the wi-fi off, because that was one of the annoying features of the DSi with its yellow light constantly on. I'd like to see an app system on the 3DS which will allow for networking, such as Facebook, Myspace and the like. I didn't like the Opera browser for the DSi, however I would really love to see a browser such as Firefox on the 3DS.

Yeah I hope the 3DS will be more open to letting anyone who can develop apps and charging what they like for them.

Eh, you can turn the Wi-Fi off in the DSi's system settings. The browser isn't necessarily bad (I've written entire chapters of fan fiction in it), but the DSi's relatively slow CPU (133 MHz) and limited RAM (16 MB) don't allow it to perform too well. From the looks of it, though, the 3DS won't have those issues. I mean, if it can produce the graphics in Resident Evil: Revelations, surely it can produce websites nicely, too, don't you think?

Back to topic, I think rumble would be great if it made it in (I'm one of those people that make a big deal about it in their home consoles; hence, my reason to stay away from WaveBird GCN controllers and resort to importing the Japanese wired ones which have a much longer cord), but wouldn't a vibrating 3DS distract you from the 3D effects?

THe thing is, the 3DS looks like a totally different device from any other Nintendo handheld. The Gameboy was the creation of Gunpei Yokoi. The idea of combining the Game And Watch portable device and the NES. The Gameboy pocket and colors were advancements in that device. The GBA was a more powerful version, better graphics etc.

The 3DS tho is different because its actually the same form factor as the DS. The DS was something new for Nintendo, the first proper clamshell handheld with two screen, a touch screen etc

The 3DS brings all that and improves it, so its nothing new. Its not like Nintendo are going to make it with flaws in the aesthetics since its carrying 6 years worth of DS design.

This is a device for the hardcore, so maybe it will have a more open software? Its much more powerful, so it would be a shame to keep it closed.

The DS was so popular, that there is nothing to expect that they would change the design, which brought a huge succes to Nintendo. You have to be a very brave man to change it :D

Agree. A lot of good stuff can be created with open software and I think Nintendo should use this.

Look at the great Homebrew on the PSP and DS, now imagine that but with a 3D console!

The possibilities are endless, and the emulators would work amazingly well!

Tho Nintendo have officially said they are going to bring NES and SNES games to the 3DS in 3D, maybe like a virtual console?
