Free periods in the last years of school could be very boring. Once I counted just to pass the time. I didn’t count anything in particular, just kept counting up. A more enjoyable way of killing time once was to write a list of every video game I have completed.

That was 8 years ago. The list filled 2 sides of A4 paper. I scanned it into my computer and have been adding to it ever since. Here is the list (please excuse the handwriting and spelling):

In most cases I count a game as completed if I get to the end of the story and see the credits or finish all the challenges (without cheating).

Uninteresting Note: Mario Bros. 2 was the first game I finished.

Well it did take 19 years between between finishing Mario Bros. 2 and Mario Galaxy 2 (which I finally got around to finishing 2 days ago), so I'm sure you've both got some time to catch up.

Holy crap...that's one helluva list, Adam! I have no idea who could possibly match that. All these games...you've completed every single thing there is to do in them? For Super Paper Mario, for example, you've gotten a Catch Card of every single enemy in the game? You've got every single trophy, CD, and sticker in SSBB?

Wow. I have no words. You're either lying or amazing beyond all comparison, and I think you're a very honest person. :p

At the risk of disappointing you, I didn't mean I'd done everything in all those games. I mean I finished all the main missions in GTA IV, but didn't finish all the side missions, kill every pigeon and get every multiplayer achievement. That would be really hardcore.

Anyone else want to share their list? Don't worry if it's not as long, it's just interesting to see what you've played through.

That's a nice list there, 3D Gamer. Let's see if it stacks up to mine...

Here are all the games I can think of that I've completed (meaning, have at least seen the credits, though I've gone on much further in most of these games), in no particular order. I'll put a * beside the ones that I've totally completed to the very, very end (meaning, I've done aboslutely everything there is to do in the game).

    • *New Super Mario Bros. (DS, not Wii)
    • Super Mario Sunshine
    • *Super Mario Galaxy
    • *Super Mario Galaxy 2
    • Paper Mario
    • Super Paper Mario
    • Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
    • *Super Mario 64
    • Super Mario 64 DS
    • Mario Party 8
    • *Mario Kart 64
    • *Mario Kart DS
    • Mario Kart Wii
    • Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
    • Yoshi's Island DS
    • Super Smash Bros. Brawl
    • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
    • *LostWinds
    • World of Goo
    • Pokemon Platinum Version
    • The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
    • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
    • *Physicus
    • *Uncle Albert's Magical Album
    • *Uncle Albert's Fabulous Voyage
    • *Rayman Raving Rabbids
    • Wii Fit
    • *Wii Sports (okay, you don't really beat this one; I just got really good at all the sports)
    • Wii Play
    • Spore
    • Excite Truck

Huh. That seems to be all I can think of at the moment. I'm probably missing half my list, though; while it's nothing compared to yours, Adam, it's still not exactly bad for someone my age. I'll be sure to update it if I think of any other games.

Both good lists. I'd like to see more. Interesting to see what adventures other people have been on too.

I see 3D Gamer has played through Metal Gear Solid. I've just completed it again. Even after 12 years it's been one of my most enjoyable gaming experiences this year. I'm going to play through the whole series as now have a PS3 and can finally play MGS4. I'll wait for the 3DS to do MGS3 though.

Feld0, tell me more about Uncle Albert's Fabulous Voyage!

Have you heard of it before? Oh man...the memories. It was one of my favourite games before I was introduced to the magic of Nintendo; even to this day, it has a place in my heart. It's a prime example of the perfect educational game; you will actually have learned a lot about the history of the world and even some basic science by the time you're done. You're probably aware of my inherent passion for learning, so this game really stuck with me when I saw that there was a genuinely good educational game out there.

It's been years since I played it, so I don't remember too many of the game's finer details, but it's a true PC gem. I thought I'd never find another soul interested in the series (there are three Uncle Albert games). I do, however, remember that a rather iconic portion of the game involved a dangerous trip to the bottom of the ocean in a submarine. In the first game (Magical Album), you got to build your own rocketship and use it to get to Mars, where you'd find a dragon! One of the things I loved most about the games was that many of the puzzles had multiple possible solutions, tremendously increasing the replay value as you challenged yourself to try and find more unique ways of solving problems on subsequent playthroughs.

Ah, the memories...I suddenly feel like a little child again. I always looked forward to playing me some Uncle Albert on the 500 MHz monstrosity of a family computer we had back then between endless math drills and such that my parents had been filling my 7-year-old head with.

Dang, now that you've got me excited about these games, I wanna play them again! Seriously, Adam (or anyone else reading this, for that matter), if you can possibly track down a copy of any Uncle Albert game anywhere, by all means get it!

Geeze, I could go on all night. :p You want me to?

It's taken me 2 months to reply to that message. Sorry I forgot to check back here and just came on to add 3 games to my list. I was looking for some screen shots but can only find the cover art. I looks like it's available on Amazon.com pretty cheaply. Sounds like I've missed out on a corker (I've never used that word before).

Excluding flash games, I've probably beaten around 60 games in my life. I just don't have enough attention to complete games like I used to. I'm more of a pick-up-and-play gamer nowadays.

COD isn't that bad, you say it like it's the worst game ever! There have been a lot worse games than it, and yeah, it isn't the best game but I kind of enjoy it!!
