SmashShot of the Day (22nd July 2014)

For the past year, Smash Bros. Director, Masahiro Sakurai, has been showing off Smash Bros. gloryĀ by uploading a screenshot from the upcoming instalments for 3DS and Wii U nearly every day onĀ Miiverseā€¦ thatā€™s a whole lot of content for your eyeballs! Today we’ll be looking in the far reaches of outer space!

zlCfzSMmCz0KVzqbOq

It wouldn’t be a SmashShot without Sakurai’s comment now, would it…

Here’s the Great Fox from Star Fox: Assault. I wonder what missions it will conduct. It’ll probably have fighters running around on top of it without the pilot’s consent.

Here we see the return of the mighty Great Fox from Star Fox: Assault. Could this be a new stage announcement for Smash Bros.? If so then I think that when Sakurai said “I wonder what missions it will conduct” could mean it is one of those stages where the environment changes, similar to the Skyloft and Delfino Plaza stages.

Super Smash Bros.Ā is set to be released for 3DS on the 13th September 2014 in Japan, 3rd October 2014 in Europe and North America, and a day later in Australia. The Wii U version is set to be released during Q4 2014.

SmashShot of the Day (18th/21st July 2014)

I apologise for the delay for the SmashShot, been very busy of late!

Let’s start with Friday’s… which was a bit of a K.O. if you ask me!

zlCfzSLe-W0euMfryu

And of course, here’s what Sakurai had to say…

Here’s a Screen K.O. shot. There are also patterns where players will disappear into the sky for Star K.O.s, but as a match’s time limit approaches, those K.O.s will not occur anymore.

We all know those comical K.O. scenes, when one of the characters bashes into the screen before falling in battle. It seems these scenes will be even more comical as the characters’ faces will flatten like when a face hits a strong window. The scenes where the character will fly off into the distance will also return.

And here is today’s SmashShot which show how much of a leech Robin really is…

zlCfzSMS8nIcvPUP3Z

Robin’s Nosferatu is the first ability in the Smash Bros. series that recovers your damage as it gives damage to others. The attack becomes even stronger if you strike from behind! Robin doesn’t actually use this ability in the original game, but we added that element to make the character unique. Who knows–the ideas we use in this game may contribute to the original series.

It seems that the surname Nosferatu is a very suiting for Robin as one of his unique abilities allow him to leech power from your opponents, like how a vampire sucks blood from its victim. Sakurai also mentions that though the ability does not appear within the Fire Emblem games, it could very well make an appearance in a future title. In fact, ay franchise could technically gain inspiration from Smash Bros.!

Super Smash Bros.Ā is set to be released for 3DS on the 13th September 2014 in Japan, 3rd October 2014 in Europe and North America, and a day later in Australia. The Wii U version is set to be released during Q4 2014.

SmashShot of the Day (17th July 2014)

Sorry for the lateness, been busy today šŸ˜‰ .

For the past year, Smash Bros. Director, Masahiro Sakurai, has been showing off Smash Bros. gloryĀ by uploading a screenshot from the upcoming instalments for 3DS and Wii U nearly every day onĀ Miiverseā€¦ thatā€™s a whole lot of content for your eyeballs!Ā Link isn’t in today’s pic, though that doesn’t stop the other characters from fighting in someone’s living room… uninvited!

zlCfzSLPS8AN5JkEqV

Apparently Sakurai condones these actions…

We have Nintendogs plus cats! How could we forget them!! Just FYI, there are about five dog breeds in this game. This was me, reporting from the 3DS-exclusive stage, Living Room.

Luckily no pots were broken today, instead we get a first look at the kittens in the 3DS exclusive stage, Living Room from Nintendogs+Cats. It turns out that there will be five breeds of dogs which could appear in this stage, perhaps we will also have several breeds of cats to appear too, such as that one breed which looks like the spawn of the devil… yikes!

SmashShot of the Day (16th July 2014)

For the past year, Smash Bros. Director, Masahiro Sakurai, has been showing off Smash Bros. gloryĀ by uploading a screenshot from the upcoming instalments for 3DS and Wii U nearly every day onĀ Miiverseā€¦ thatā€™s a whole lot of content for your eyeballs! Yet another look at the newly announced characters from Monday takes the spotlight in todays pic!

zlCfzSLAkwU1urLlo8

Here’s what Sakurai said…

The Levin sword and tomes are Robin’s life lines. The Levin sword can be activated by using smash attacks–you can even activate these moves in midair! However, just like in the original game, the Levin sword can be used only a limited number of times before it breaks, at which point it takes some time to regenerate. When the Levin sword is unavailable, Robin fights using the bronze sword.

It seems that Robin will be borrowing some game mechanics from Fire Emblem Awakening. You can use this Levin sword for stronger attacks, though player beware as it only takes so many hits before it crumbles up into oblivion… but luckily it can be regenerated after some time to use again in battle. There’s another pic today too!

zlCfzSLAlE8QHMYZkO

The way Robin launches Arcfire is kind of crazyā€”he or she calls down a bolt of flame from above, then launches a pillar of fire! By the way, Robinā€™s tome changes with each special attack.

This one focuses on another one of his/her moves. Do these fighter have the power of the Gods or something as these are crazy as @#$&! Seriously! Other than that, we can see yet another example of the detail being put into the game as Robin’s tomes will change colours depending on what attack is being executed! Hopefully tomorrow should see a picture which hasn’t to do with the Fire Emblem representatives as, personally, Nintendo have been a bit of an overkill with Fire Emblem in Smash Bros. recently [haha].

SmashShot of the Day (15th July 2014)

For the past year, Smash Bros. Director, Masahiro Sakurai, has been showing off Smash Bros. gloryĀ by uploading a screenshot from the upcoming instalments for 3DS and Wii U nearly every day onĀ Miiverseā€¦ thatā€™s a whole lot of content for your eyeballs! Today focuses, once again, on yesterday reveal and is a host of ‘My Sword Is Bigger Than Yours!’.

SmashShot 15/7/14

Here’s what Sakurai had to say on the matter…

Along with Robin, Lucina joins the battle!! Her physical ablilites are identical to Marth’s–it must be in her D.N.A. However, where Marth’s power is concentrated in the tip of the sword, Lucina’s attack strength is balanced throughout the weapon, which might make her easier to control. She’s also a little bit shorter than Marth.

So it seems that Lucina takes off after her ancestor as her move set is nearly identical to Marth’s, though where Marth’s power come from the tip of the sword, Lucina’s power is spread throughout the sword. Sakurai also mentions she is shorter than Marth. Though this may seem like simple teasing, this could mean that she is quicker on her feet.

But wait! That’s not all, as today isn’t a single feature, nor a double feature… it’s a triple feature today!

zlCfzSKwa6YCEBWvAZ

With the Wii Fit Trainers, the male and female Robins, the Villagers, and Little Mac, varying their appearances and voices works just like selecting alternate color variations. However, whenever there is even a small difference in abilities, that character gets an actual roster slot. That is why you can select Lucina individually.

Ii looks like we have a bit of a battle of the sexes here… also, an explanation on why Lucina receives her own roster slot when other Male/Female versions of fighters just count as alternate costumes.

zlCfzSKwbEI1Fr6F_j

By the wayā€¦there’s probably no chance you’ll be able to see this in the game, but Lucina has the mark of Naga in her left eye.

This one just demonstrates how much detail has gone into each and every character model within the new Smash Bros. games.

SmashShot of the Day (14th July 2014)

For the past year, Smash Bros. Director, Masahiro Sakurai, has been showing off Smash Bros. gloryĀ by uploading a screenshot from the upcoming instalments for 3DS and Wii U nearly every day onĀ Miiverseā€¦ thatā€™s a whole lot of content for your eyeballs! Today, we get what could be a hint, but is probably a troll.

Hereā€™s what Sakurai had to sayā€¦

In order to make Rayman’s trophy, we asked Ubisoft to share their references. We were expecting to receive 2D drawing references for Rayman, but to our surprise, they sent us data of a brand new 3D model that they rendered for this game!! And that was how this trophy was created. It takes a lot of work creating each model, so it’s wonderful that the creators contributed their own efforts!!

An interesting story indeed, and one that shows Nintendo’s relationship with Ubisoft isn’t as dead as fans have claimed. We could seeĀ a lot more third-party characters than most expect. It also could be a hint at a third-party character reveal today, but that’s likely not the case — our money’s on Shulk.

Super Smash Bros.Ā is set to be released for 3DS on the 13th September 2014 in Japan, 3rd October 2014 in Europe and North America, and a day later in Australia. The Wii U version is set to be released during Q4 2014.

SmashShot of the Day (11th July 2014)

For those of you who have been living under a rock for the past year, Smash Bros. Director, Masahiro Sakurai, has been showing off Smash Bros. gloryĀ by uploading a screenshot from the upcoming instalments for 3DS and Wii U nearly every day onĀ MiiVerseā€¦ thatā€™s a whole lot of visual content for your eyeballs! Today’s pic focuses on Pac-Man’s very big ego!

SmashShot 11/7/14

And this is what Sakurai had to say on the subject…

Pac-Man’s up taunt is known as Namco Roulette! Namco characters from the 1980s will randomly appear.

Everyone loves a good taunt, they’re good for teasing your opponent and feeding your ego. Well it seems that Pac-Man won’t be falling shy from taunting as his up taunt makes Pac-Man show off a character from an old Namco game. Today is yet another double feature as Sakurai posted another photo with another comment!

SmashShot 11/7/14 2

See? There’s a variety of characters. Huh? One of them looks pretty recent.

Super Smash Bros.Ā is set to be released on the 13th September 2014 in Japan, 3rd October 2014 in Europe and North America, and a day later in Australia for 3DS. The Wii U version is set to be released during Q4 2014.
