Music plays such a huge part within Nintendo games to make them truly remarkable and memorable. To show our appreciation and love of the music, every Friday we shall share a selection of tracks from various Nintendo games, new and old.

This weekend, we will have a few pieces of music from some recognisable franchises to start of the regular edition of NintyBeats.

Listen to our selection after the break!

Overworld ~ Super Mario Bros. ~ NES (1985)

When we said recognisable, we weren’t joking. The overworld theme to Super Mario Bros. has to be one of the most recognisable pieces of video game music in the world, even if you have never even heard of Super Mario [seriously, where have you been?]. It sets a very chirpy atmosphere that is able to turn even the strongest frown upside-down… that’s until you misjudge that one jump and fall into the bottomless abyss about 100 times.

Overworld – The Legend of Zelda – NES (1986)

A year after Super Mario Bros. came The Legend of Zelda, which was apparently loosely based of its father’s, Sigeru Miyamoto, childhood explorations in the forests, lakes, caves and rural villages of Sonobe, Japan. Though the theme sounds electronic, it still shows off that adventurous vibe. It’s almost like you want to go around in green clothing fighting Moblins, Octorocs and more!

Wild Pokémon Battle ~ Pokémon Red/Yellow ~ Gameboy (1996/1998)

Finally, we have one of the most recognisable themes to the Pokémon series, the Wild Pokémon Battle theme! This is a song which you would probably encounter more than anything in the franchise. True it isn’t the same track in every entry, but most of them do sound very similar to each other. The theme makes you think on your toes making sure you use the right Pokémon and the right skill, and when you are on a winning streak, there are parts of the song which make you feel oh so much more awesome!

That’s all the time we have for day unfortunately, but we will be back with another selection next Friday, and do not worry, next week will be less generic. If you have any suggestions for future sections, feel free to post them in the comments below!

Have a great weekend folks!

I am a huge Nintendo fan, hence why NintyBuzz exists. I especially love all things Zelda and Metroid. NintyBuzz was started by me back in the Summer of 2014, it started out mainly as a hobby, though the site has gradually grown, and I hope it grows for many years to come!
